Birthday Girl (Elsie) 10 months

Kitty's birthday was last week, so I wanted to celebrate her here. Actually, I hardly ever call her by her name. I call her "Honey Child." I've included a narrative that I sent to the shelter; where I she chose me.:)) It's long, but endearing if you chooses to read it. Kitty (Elsie) turned 12 yrs 4 days ago ....boy how time flies!! I took her home at 9 mos., and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Actually, when I went to the shelter, it was to meet another young kitty, who was actually Elsie's sister, and looked exactly like her. (Elsie's picture was not featured on the website.) When I went to the shelter the very next morning, the little girl I wanted to see was gone. But there, next to an empty cage was her twin sister. I didn't fall for the "paw through the cage" trick; she did that to everyone who stopped at her cage. When she enthusiastically licked my hand I thought, wow, she's the one for me...............until I saw her do that to almost everyone who put their fingers through her cage.
But later, after visiting with other cats, I went back to her cage and opened it. She was shy, and very cautious to come close, yet all the while, we maintained perfect, and comfortable eye contact. She met me at the front of her cage, and began licking my outstretched fingers. When I put my face down to hers, she touched my chin ever so lightly with her paw. She then proceeded to eagerly lick my entire face...............purring the whole time. It wasn't so much as if she was saying, "Get me out of here." It felt more like, "I've been waiting for you." (yeh I know, it may sound corny.) Given the interest I took in her, I was told that she was considered "a special needs cat" because at her tender young age, she had already been brought home and returned TWICE! She was an absolute "wild child;" and wouldn't tolerate being petted, or picked up, etc. Well that didn't put me off at all. I once again put my face down to hers, and asked her if she would like to come home with me. When her innocent eyes looked into mine, and she touched her dainty pink nose to my nose, "the deal was sealed." I said, "Bring me her papers; we're going home.."
The last 11 years have been a gift beyond telling. (Angels and Blessings take on many forms.) Today, she is content, mellow and relaxed, wonderfully happy, playful and "full of the dickens," so very intelligent and clever, fun, curious, ever becoming, and achingly affectionate. She is, perfect Love.

@milaniet Thank you Milanie for taking the time to read her story. The shelter called me when they received this and a few photos; they really appreciated the gesture, and were so happy for us both. And yes, we are a perfect match...........as close as 2 apples on the same stem. Have a gentle night, Les
