And the road goes on … by golftragic

And the road goes on …

As the poet Dorothea McKellar said, 'I love a sunburnt country … '.

SOOC bar minor adjustments in Aperture.
I would hate to break down on this road.

@joansmor Not the best place, but not the worst either so long as you had plenty of water. This whole area is very popular with tourists who like this kind of country and anyone who came along would always help someone in trouble.

@golftragic Then I won't worry for you.

@joansmor We were with a local guide in a 4WD vehicle fitted with all necessary communications and plenty of water. So we were safe as could be, but thank you for your concern.

Wow - impressive landscape - I love the composition and the way the road leads in from the corner and disappears into the distance.

Wonderful landscape, love the winding road

The long and winding road, what a beautiful shot. I just love the vastness of our country.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful! I spent a number of years in the "Desert Southwest" of the US, and, while most long distance roads are paved, the terrain is not dissimilar to this. It does become a part of your heart, doesn't it? Simple exquisiteness!

@dibzgreasley @888rachel Thanks girls, I was very taken with the view from there, and am so pleased the photo was OK. We had a ball the whole week we were in the Flinders Ranges, saw lots of critters, plants and trees, rocks, birds etc etc.

@taffy Ahh well, you'll definitely have to come back to Oz for a holiday trip Taffy. The Flinders Ranges are a photographer's delight.

@flyrobin Many thanks Robyn, I too thought it was really quintessential Australian dry country. We loved the whole holiday and I'd go back again if I could.

@ceilidh Thanks Margaret, it's incredible country.

@Weezilou Yes, that's a great way to put it Louise, right on the button. I love semi-arid country despite its harshness, prickles, ants, flies etc etc. It just strikes a note with me.
