Station-Master's residence

The ruins of what was, amongst other things, the station-master's residence at Wilson. Wilson was once a small settlement with a population of around 70 people. This building was the last occupied home until it too was closed in 1954. For those who are interested in the history of this area: https://www.frc.sa.gov.au/wilson
Almost could believe this was in an unworldly desert!

Fabulous composition and shot. It must have been a nice home at the time.

The walls still look sturdy even though the roof has gone.

The tree is missing its masters.

@onewing Yeah, gal sheets probably re-purposed elsewhere.

@yaorenliu It does look a bit sad doesn't it?

@ludwigsdiana Yes, the thick walls would have provided good insulation from the climatic extremes and the structure is very solid.

The tree is missing its leaves, the house its roof and they seem to be an apt symbol for the lack of life here. Good shot.

@fbailey Thanks FB, I find this kind of terrain very photogenic even without the fabulous ruins.

@blueberry1222 Yes, I guess it is, but it also has a rugged kind of beauty.

@golftragic I just read the article Marnie - an amazing history with so many ups and downs! Makes me wish we had a bit longer in the area.:)

@robz If you read up on stuff like Goyder's Line before you go you'll get a lot more out of the trip, however long.
