Not many photo ops round here while we're in Stage 3 lockdown (only 4 reasons to leave home and photography ain't one of 'em). On my way home from the supermarket yesterday I spotted a beautifully restored Chevrolet out in a nearby street. Took the groceries home, picked up camera and drove round the block to get a few shots to post to prove I'm still alive and kicking.
I live in Geelong, a Victorian regional city in southeastern Australia. Golf and photography are my main interests, and together account for most of my...
@onewing Oh yes, I talked to the proud owner for a while as he worked on another, even older car. Just round the corner from our place. He came out to see what I was up to then recognised me as a neighbour so then relaxed. Struggling for phojo. Haven't gone floral yet though!
Nice to see a posting from you. Hopefully you can stay occupied at home. We managed to only need fortnightly grocery shopping during lockdown with two big eating sons here - we were getting creative with meals for the last few days. Chad volunteered to do the shopping and groceries were literally thrown on the back of his Ute!! Stay safe.
@dide Well done you and your family. I try to do a biggish shop once a week but always seem to need milk, fruit/veg etc from the supermarket, bread for Les from the bakery and milk, eggs and sourdough bread for me from the wholefood shop in between. We live five minutes drive from our local shops and have fallen into bad habits.
Good that you did it Marnie, fabulous shot of this stunning white wall tyre. I have not seen one in ages. I only go out once a week as we are still in lockdown since March! It sure starts messing with habits and the mind. Stay safe :-)
@golftragic Yeah - I guess we were lucky to have eggs, feijoas, home kill meat in the freezer and greens from the garden to boost things along. By the end of lockdown we were getting sick of feijoas, which is very unusual, as we love them! Still, kept us in fruit nicely for the duration...and no scurvy was evident...
@dide Sounds good to me. I've just ordered a proper greenhouse to be installed in October (earliest date!). I've got lots of veg in the back yard but need a greenhouse to grow other stuff which is currently either in the family room (north full-length glass doors) or on the porch. Plus a bunch of other stuff like my finger lime, galangal, curry leaf plant etc, etc. Lots of money but …
@dide Oh yes, and since I'll hit 80 in a year and a half I'm setting up new hobbies to replace more active stuff. I still love my golf, but my ageing body doesn't - it's a tough game on the old bod with all the twisting motions.
Good shot- I took one like this once of a Ford Fairlane- same colors but only on display outside a '50's style diner. No proud owner to chat with there. Hang in there- the phojo will return! In the meantime this was a good photo opp to spot and take advantage of.
I have been playing with food for the last week on 365, just goes to show what lockdown does to you.
