We just planted first fruit trees and we know that possums will not pass on them, they will wait for the fresh brunches, first buds, not mention, fruits and they will eat them. So we fenced the garden hoping they will not find a weak point in the net. We will see.
They are a real pest.. We have a beautiful sweet orange tree that is loaded at the moment and the amount of orange skins on the ground is incredable.. they eat the flesh of oranges but just the skin of lemons.. and seem to know how to avoid the possum traps.
I love possums and occasionally during winter I put out fruit for our local ringtail and brushtail possums as there isn't much food around for them. I agree with Katrina @koalagardens they aren't pests, I love them. Humans have supermarkets where they can buy food, the local wildlife don't have that luxury.
great shot, we don't have all these animals here so for me they are all adorable, what I think is that we invade their world not the other way round...
