ANZAC by graemestevens

ANZAC

Well, this unlike me, but sadly not everything is about me.
A day of national significance here in New Zealand, and also in Australia...if they would stop behaving like convicts and making repeated attempts at the blatant thievery of clearly New Zealand icons (pavlova being the prime example) all would be well. Having said that, there are times when we do stand together. And yes, I nearly obliterated my poppy when singeing the edges...

I saw a man without a leg
And when he caught my stare
He said, "I left the mate to this
Buried Over There."

I saw a man without an eye
And when he looked at me
He said, "I gave the other one
To save democracy."

I saw a man without a heart
His hands were soft and clean
He said, "I made my little pile
In Nineteen-seventeen."

@jess1204 This one is a bit out of the ordinary for me and I'm struggling to like it beyond the symbolism, so thank you very much, appreciated.

Great processing in this - the vignetting really works for me; and it involved fire so not completely out of the ordinary for you

@rachelwithey You make a good point, even if it was only a minor "burning"...I looked at it with no processing, but it did seem to need the vignette - thanks as always for the comments :)
