This is for the Black & White Theme - Humanity.
I do not like this shot one bit, but it's all I've got. The result of a poorly thought through idea.
Tonight we enter our first competition at the local Photography Club. I think I might be unfocused and ever so slightly "shitting bricks".
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
@mzzhope Thanks - I'm sure we'll both be fine, it's just getting past that first one I guess! And the theme is Environment, so I've had to dog deep and get out some dreaded "pretty" photos!!!
@livvy Thanks very much - not sure that "fun" is the right word... @spanner Thanks very much - nerve racking having our "stuff" on display like that - at least here I'm hidden behind a keyboard!!!
@graemestevens So how will it work tonight - have you been given a theme and then produced one (or a series of shots)? Are there any restrictions as to what you can and cannot do?
At first glance this looked like a DJ set up - until I looked closer and saw all the computers and phone - good luck at the competition - but even if you don't place or win I think your work is great....
@mzzhope Thanks again - lets hope I don't scare them too much @spanner We submit up to 4 photos with the theme of "Environment (hand of man minimalised)" and then they're judged over the next 2 weeks, followed by a public "critique" session at the next fortnightly "meeting". As far as I'm aware there are no hard and fast rules about what you can and can't do, but I'm patiently waiting for August, which has an "Own Choice" category, in which I intend to scare the bejesus out of them all. @cailts Thanks veyr much @deak68 I think that's why I'm not overly happy with it as I had the same thought, but thanks very much all the same
It must be very nerve wracking to be involved with a local Photography Club. I have an upcoming gallery opening and feel VERY apprehensive. There's no "judging" -per se- but I'll be putting my work out there. I'll be holding positive thoughts that all goes well.
@voiceprintz Ooooh, how exciting for you, and good luck! One of our friends had a gallery opening a couple of years back for her artwork and sculptures (one of which we bought) and I remember her being very apprehensive, almost to the point of panic. I really hope it goes well for you :)
Do we get to see what was in the competition?? Hope so!! Good Luck, I've seen you dig deep on here and you're good. It's a shot with a statement even if you don't like how it turned out, the statement still comes through clearly..... It's a balancing act isn't it, technology is here ti stay and is part of life, it brings good but needs keeping in balance.....tough one...
@rachelwithey thanks...terrified (just quietly) @newbank thanks very much - I'm entering shots of posted on here, one of them being the b&w water one, the goblin forest and the tree columns, so here's hoping. And yes, it's so easy to let technology take over our lives - thanks very much for your comments, always appreciated :) @golftragic thanks very much - I hadn't thought of taking my cables with me, but it's a novel approach ;)
Great shot, showing how technology is taking over over and we are losing real interaction between real people.... you know what I mean. Very thought provoking
@lorrainelouise Thanks very much, appreciated @yaorenliu That's a good word for it - as for my headphones, usually Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Muse, Biffy Clyro and the like...it soothes me @creativefool Thanks very much...just have to wait a whole 2 weeks for the result! @tracelee I know, my 14 year old is always plugged in to the Matrix as well @wearing0 Thanks - waiting patiently for the Open Category so that I can scare the conservative out of them! @hermann Thanks very much :) @deliad I know exactly what you mean, and thank you very much :)
I like the DJ set up initial thought followed by the closer look - everyone nowadays has the headphones plugged into the latest sound brought to you by all the throw away technology - fingers crossed for you tonight
@ltodd Not as nerve racking as we expected, made it out alive! @rustymonkey We'll hear at the next meeting in a couple of weeks. Sigh. @lilminimonka thanks very much indeed @gigiflower speak for yourself. I can barely manage the TV remote. @annied The latest sounds on throwaway technology by throwaway "bands" too - thanks very much
Looks like you need a blood transfusion, and maybe a little ECT.
This is good. I like the way it turned out, and it must have taken a while to orchestrate.
Technology getting you down there, hey?!?! Love the look of resignation on your face! Good luck for the shoto club - I hope you do well as I think it would be rather sore to shit bricks...whahahahaha!!!
Have fun tonight ^^
