Dawson Falls by graemestevens

Dawson Falls

This is Dawson Falls, an 18 metre waterfall on Mount Taranaki named after Thomas Dawson, the first European to see them. The Maori name is Te Rere O Noke, name after a maori who hide behind the falls to escape his enemies. Personally I think that they should be called "Sweet mother of god those stairs are steep Falls". My thighs were quivering by the time I climbed back to the top...although I now have the ability to crack walnuts between them...
Ahhh....PERFECT!!! Fav!

Yum, walnuts.
This is lovely, really. But from your colorful description I'll be rather content to experience it here on my computer screen :)
July 11th, 2014

July 11th, 2014
I decide to take a look at the 365 website before going to sleep. Wow! I don't know if you work hard or not for this shot but I love it. Graeme you are so much an inspiration for me. Anyway, You do what you like and I like what you do. Good work my friend!
July 11th, 2014
Very nice shot looks a stunning place
July 11th, 2014
@daneau Thank you very much - that means a lot. By the way, it was just a bit of climbing...a lot of climbing. I hurt.

So gorgeous, fav! I love this shot, can't wait to find one to try to slow water.
July 11th, 2014
looks like a gorgeous veil . beautiful
July 11th, 2014
Too early in the morning to be witty. Back at lunch to see if @gigiflower has been wittier than me. Great shot though.
July 11th, 2014
Great capture of cascading water. I imagine the rock pool would be a great swimming spot in summer. :-)
July 11th, 2014
Fav!
July 11th, 2014
wonderful shot, worth the hike! :-) FAV!
July 11th, 2014

July 11th, 2014
bahahahaha faving for the beautiful water and just so I can laugh again at the commentary hahahahahahahaha
July 11th, 2014
Sam
Cracking walnuts between your thighs? Well that certainly is an interesting but vaguely sexy thought on a Friday evening. Will there be a photo of this cracking walnuts business? A macro shot please. Before and after shots. Before the crack. And after the crack. I'm dragging both @newbank and @annied into this "banter"!
July 11th, 2014
Beautiful water. Fav
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower hahahaha no need to drag - I think a triptych would be wonderful - thighs - the crack - the aftermath :)
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@annied Very good idea Annie............. @graemestevens are you up for it?????
July 11th, 2014
@redy4et thanks very much indeed
@jess1204 thank you very much...I really like doing these, even without blood and fire
@brigette Thank you very much
@newbank Thanks a bunch and I know the feeling...maybe if I didn't drink so much...
@hermann Thanks, and apparently so although still cold even in the summer
@taffy thank you very much
@andrewkru Thanks, as for being worth the hike...I'll let you know when my legs stop behaving like jelly
@shepherdmanswife Thanks very much
@spanner Thanks...much appreciated. Come to Taranaki and we'll not only show you all the good spots but keep you safe from the inbreds!
@creativefool Thanks very much, glad you like it
@deliad Thanks very much :)
@annied Thanks and thanks...pleased to be of service
@gigiflower No photos. I'll post a video to Facebook of my thighs of steel in full working order.
@flyrobin Thank you very much :)
@gigiflower How about a "onetych" of just the aftermath...I can almost guarantee that's all there will be. Once these bad boys get crushing there'll be nothing left...
@gigiflower Only if I can do it to "eye of the tiger"
July 11th, 2014
@graemestevens love eye of the tiger!
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower thighs of steel and eye of the tiger - high hopes?
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@annied @graemestevens I'm SO into Eye of the Tiger. BRING IT ON! Please advise date of this so I can be ready and waiting with my laptop to see it all appear before my very eyes :)
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@annied I've NEVER been THIS excited in my life Annie!!!!!!!!!
July 11th, 2014
@annied @gigiflower As with all of the women in my life I will (and this a promise) disappoint you. The only steel that my thighs a close too resembling is aluminium in their soft pliability and my sense of rhythm is akin to a slug trying to dance to Saturday Night Fever.
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens You are developing quite the harem following........all because of your cracking nuts ability and love of Rocky songs!!!!
July 11th, 2014
@graemestevens aluminium - pronounced al-oooo-min-eeee-um is very versatile and don't knock the rhythm of slugs - they are quite the toe tapper
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower Not to mention my ability to absolutely rock a pair of leather chaps
@annied Versatile yes, strong no. As for the slugs...I have the same figure...
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens HAHAHAH now you are talkin'
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower Now I'm drinkin' would be more accurate!
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied I have nothing exciting to add today except I misunderstood Sam's phot0s request.... I thought she wanted a macro image of your "nuts"... seemed bit risky for 365 and all....and I wanted to inform her I was a married lady and all. Now I see I have misunderstood the situation.
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@newbank I find it very hard to believe that you have nothing to add........! Lucky that I'm also very happily married however conversations regarding cracks, nuts, steel things and leather chaps does strange things to ones mind on a Friday evening ;)
July 11th, 2014
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@newbank And make that steel *thighs* instead of things. The intake of wine is affecting my typing!
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied lunchtime here is so not the time to be thinking about male anatomy...cant blame anything....unless tuna toasties have something strange in them...
July 11th, 2014
@newbank tuna toasties ----------------oh you are in for a weird day :)
July 11th, 2014
Brilliant shot, Graeme. Love the narrative...hilarious, but I'm not going to mention your thighs, nuts or leather chaps!! Have a good weekend mate.
July 11th, 2014
Totally gorgeous. Great shot Graeme.
July 11th, 2014
@davie But you just did... You could have said "Brillant shot, Graeme. Have a good weekend mate." Instead you took one small step into the seedy world of being a Graeme Stevens groupie....
July 11th, 2014
@newbank Oh my god...you're right!! Didn't realise I had written that. I'll never mention Graeme's thighs, nuts or leather chaps again...
July 11th, 2014
@davie No please do. I promise its so much fun being a groupie. @gigiflower and @annied will confirm.
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@newbank @davie @annied Yes it's better to be part of the inner circle of groupies that @graemestevens is building. And let's face it - without us, Mr Stevens would never admit to his desire to cracking nuts whilst wearing leather chaps. The truth is slowing coming out........!
July 11th, 2014
@newbank @gigiflower @davie it is true - we must continue to nurture and encourage the weird and wonderful world of @graemestevens - it is not good to keep things bottled up - let it out let it out! - maybe not the nuts but the thighs and chaps - well.............................................
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@annied HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I can NOT stop laughing!!!!!! Slightly terrified of Mr Stevens letting it out.........but I'm prepared to run with it!!! (unless he gets more out of control)
July 11th, 2014
Well worth the climb, nice shot.
July 11th, 2014
beautiful shot!
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower laughing is the best therapy
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower I'm not comfortable being the only male, seedy, Graeme groupie. So, that's why I will never again mention his thighs, nuts and leather chaps. What the....
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@davie Ok you don't have to mention those "things"........you can just join in the hilarious banter that takes place when we hijack @graemestevens page!
July 11th, 2014
@gigiflower What things? I hope you're not talking about his thighs, nuts and leather chaps...taboooo!!
July 11th, 2014
Gorgeous shot!
July 11th, 2014
Awesome shot! I wish I had waterfalls where I live! Interesting to hear of your nut cracking abilities!
July 11th, 2014
This is so beautiful, can you swim at the bottom? You could make very cool photo shoots there!
July 11th, 2014
Beautiful!
July 11th, 2014
@davie Thanks very much. I'm steering well clear of them as well
@bigugly Thanks very much, appreciated
@andy3168 Thanks, it's an amazing place
@firefly8642 Thanks so much
@ukandie1 Thanks very much
@eyeamlisa Thank you, we have quite a few waterfalls around here...my legs were more like jelly after the climb
@roseolivia Thanks - you can swim here but really only in summer. It's so close to the snow line that it's slightly chilly in the winter
@cdh365 thank you very much :)
@davie @gigiflower @annied @newbank Good grief, what a way to start my day...thank you all for making me giggle like a school girl while lying in bed next to my lovely wife. In my chaps. Which I wear to stop my nuts from cracking in the restrictive confines of jeans.
July 11th, 2014
@graemestevens Im about to nod off soon. Its finally Friday bedtime here so not awol yet...
July 11th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Of course you will be on those plastic sheets which you mentioned to me the other day.......
July 11th, 2014
@newbank sleep well!
@gigiflower After the night I had I think that would be the wisest course of action
July 12th, 2014
In this instance, the gain was worth the pain. Lovely shot Graeme.
July 12th, 2014
@golftragic Thank you very much...legs are still quivering
July 12th, 2014
Beautiful Graeme! It was worth the climb!!
July 12th, 2014
@cailts Ha! Says you! My legs are still quivering! :)) Thanks very much though, much appreciated.
July 12th, 2014
Beautiful shot, good luck on the legs.
July 12th, 2014
@trinda thanks very much. Still recovering, so unfit!
July 12th, 2014
Fabulous capture! I hear you about the legs!!! While away we went on a hike and by the time I got to the top my legs were also quivvvvvvvvering!!!
July 12th, 2014
@lynnilou Thanks very much - they've almost stopped quivering now
July 12th, 2014
@graemestevens Mine are still a bit stiff......old age is definitely not for sissies, is it ?!?!?!
July 12th, 2014
@lynnilou got to be tough to be old
