I Am Man by graemestevens

I Am Man

My mouth is dry, my throat constricted to the size of a gnats pizzle. My forehead burns like the Sahara at midday. My joints ache and feel like they're grinding together when I move and my eyes have had an entire beach worth of sand emptied into them and rubbed in. When I cough every sphincter in my body goes into spasm and mucus is forcibly ejected from all available orifices.
I have a cold and I may not make it - it's the end of my world. I really don't think I can make it through. I may in fact be expiring as we speak. There will be nothing left except a husk of a man slowly oozing snot onto our fine wooden floors. I even went and got a lily for my coffin. I Am Man - Pity Me.
Naw... nothing worse than Man Flu'....
August 17th, 2014
@julzmaioro Snuffle...I know...
August 17th, 2014
man flu
August 17th, 2014
Nice calla lily you got there! Feel better :)
August 17th, 2014
@brigette Most definitely and not at all that bad - just thought I'd Cash in on it ;)
@tammyputney Thanks - just getting it ready for the coffin...
August 17th, 2014
Sam
You look fine!
August 17th, 2014
Death by cold... a slow painful way to die. Nice shot
August 17th, 2014
@gigiflower Sssshhhh...I'm trying to fell sorry for myself and cash in on it. And if that's looking fine you should the optometrist!
@stuckinoz Thanks very much...
August 17th, 2014
Cheer up, you got a great pic!
August 17th, 2014
@kt8ird LOL, yep - every silver lining has a cloud!
August 17th, 2014
HAHAHAHAHAHA - you look normal to me - just in case I will grab you a tissue
August 17th, 2014
Feel better soon, sicko:).
August 17th, 2014
I don't know but I detect a little sinicism from the women folk on here? They just don’t understand!
August 17th, 2014
Wha Wha!!! Suck it up!! =P
(get better soon)
August 17th, 2014
@graemestevens oh my I just remembered - your needs are more important than anything else thank you very much -
*holding tray with throat lozenges, honey lemon tea, tissues, heat pack - and a bell so you can call whenever you need*
August 17th, 2014
@annied Where the hell is my whisky!!!
@amandal I'm sure I'll live to see the other side...but thanks anyway
@peter_1966 They certainly don't appreciate the gravity of the situation - they seem to forget that because a mans anatomy is different a cold is in fact, for us, worse that child birth (and cue abuse in 3...2...1...) ;)
@aprilmilani Yeah yeah, I know...it's only a cold but if I didn't at least try to get a photo from it...
August 17th, 2014
August 17th, 2014
@graemestevens it is right beside you ;-P
August 17th, 2014
Lou
We always knew you were sick...
This is the bomb. Of course it kept cracking me up, which would have made me feel bad if not for your face. Oh, that face. Gold.
August 17th, 2014
I hope you feel better in the morning and you find you don't need that lily after all. I'm thinking you might be a teensy tiny bit overdramatic....similar to my husband when he gets a cold. And thanks, Sam @gigiflower , I laughed out loud at your response!
August 17th, 2014
Wonderful drama!
August 17th, 2014
@louuncouth Thanks - there is very little point in having a face made of rubber if you don't utilise it at every opportunity!
@tabarlett Oh I'm sure I'll be fine...first time in 2 or 3 years that I've had a cold and I can't say I missed them, so I figure I'm allowed a little bit of "drama queenery"... ;)
@aecasey That's one way of putting it ;) Thank you very much.
@annied I didn't think to look there, I'm sick ;)
August 17th, 2014
@graemestevens of course - I understand - you are sick - and I love drama queenery - life is dull without it
August 17th, 2014
Gahhhhh.....sick sucks!!! Sorry you're feeling like crap, but this is still a cool pic!!!!
August 17th, 2014
@annied I'm going slip into my tutu shortly and do some flouncing as well...
@cindyloo Sick does suck...we hates it :( And thanks very much
August 17th, 2014
@graemestevens oh yes drama queenery is enhanced when there is flouncing - sparkles help too
August 17th, 2014
Sam
@tabarlett @graemestevens There was nothing more to add Tammy!!!
August 17th, 2014
Sam
@annied @graemestevens I'm hot for flouncing too.......sparkles, glitter, spray tanning and white lycra that you can see thru. Is that you Mr S?
August 17th, 2014
Oh, great, now I am afraid we will be seeing a picture of Graeme in a tutu with hairy legs and sparkles! There is nothing scarier than that! And, I hope you feel better! My mom usually recommends flushing salt down your nose....you might want to try that...brutal, but effective!
August 17th, 2014
@panthora hahahaha scary indeed Osia - the nose flush more than the image of Graeme @graemestevens in a tutu
August 17th, 2014
Something wrong with your eyes, better have it checked wit the doctor ;-)
Get well soon, or maybe not, we won't have funny pictures in the morning!
August 17th, 2014
@overalvandaan Whisky tonight and I should be fine by morning :)
@gigiflower @annied Flouncing rocks, it's the manliest thing there is.
@panthora Yes, I shall torment you with a tutu. I won't be trying salt flushing though!
August 17th, 2014
Oh well.....never mind....
August 17th, 2014
You look more lıke a serıal killer here than a man-flu sufferer! Haha! Great theatrıcal expressıon. "Alas, poor Lılly. I knew her well!"
August 17th, 2014
Salt flushing is very good for you - doctors recommend it too - better than whisky which dehydrates you as the cold is already dehydrating you.
Sorry you feel sick, well done for milking it. The tutu and a flounce could be *interesting*
August 17th, 2014
@newbank I'm sure I'll survive!
@tabbycat Serial killers get colds too...
@shannejw I think I'll still give it a miss, and there will be no photographic evidence of any flouncing...
August 17th, 2014
Hahaha, marvelously dramatic!
August 17th, 2014
@jesperani Thanks very much :)
August 17th, 2014
:-D
August 17th, 2014
Bit of a cold then Graeme :-) Cool shot btw.
August 17th, 2014
Poor bunny... I expect there's a can of chicken soup in the pantry and a can opener in the utility drawer... Whiskey and lemon works wonders too! Feel better soon!
August 17th, 2014
Women just don't understand that the man flu is so much more debilitating than the strains of cold and flu that they get :)
August 17th, 2014
Sue
Soldier on Graeme!
August 17th, 2014
I'm cracking up!! Yes, you so well capture the male response to having a cold!! But I admit, it's how I felt the 3 weeks I had one in July and felt SO sorry for myself! Feel better soon, I hope!
August 17th, 2014
Poor Kim, is all I have to say!!
August 17th, 2014
man flu - nothing else like it - you poor thing
August 17th, 2014
As a nurse I feel completely qualified to say your a ham. This looks like a spoof of hamlet but all that aside I like it, particularly the lighting on the lily.
August 17th, 2014
@tabbycat Thanks :)
@andy3168 Just a sniffle - it's all just drama, and thanks very much
@northy Ooooh...I like whisky ;) And Thanks very much
@tomtom Agreed - they have no concept of how we suffer!
@redpants Something like that... ;)
@taffy 3 weeks???? No thank you - this one will be lucky if it survives 3 days. I'm about to use sheer will power to remove it from my body.
@ceilidh She's bearing up remarkably well...
@lorrainelouise It's a killer alright ;)
@wearing0 As a "not a nurse" I feel completely qualified to say you're right :) And thank you very much.
August 17th, 2014
Is there any end to your suffering?
August 17th, 2014
@chippy1402 Not that I'm aware of, although I have to say that it's my family I'm concerned for...
August 17th, 2014
Yep!! Sounds like (and looks like) a man with a little cold.....haha! Chicken soup...that's what I always say! Hope you feel better! :D!
August 18th, 2014
@harbie Just a sniffle - I shall recover
August 18th, 2014
@graemestevens Sounds like a man-cold to me. An affliction to be taken very seriously. TLC is most efficatious.
August 18th, 2014
@golftragic If only I could some sympathy befitting the seriousness of the condition ;)
August 18th, 2014
Haha I feel sorry for Kim Hugs your way Kim!
August 18th, 2014
@tracelee LOL, she's bearing up quite well
August 18th, 2014
sorry no sympathy, you can't be that bad to produce a great shot. if that was a parting shot then I would expect some blurriness (if that's a word)
August 18th, 2014
@pinkpaintpot It's a word, and you're quite right - it's just a sniffle
August 18th, 2014
haah oh the drama should have bveen the comment on this photo!! lol how's I do that?
August 18th, 2014
I have no pity. You are man.
August 18th, 2014
However, for the sake of the nation, I hope you are feeling better.
August 18th, 2014
Not sure about the photo but love the comments
August 18th, 2014
YOU CRACK ME UP !!!
August 18th, 2014
@kali66 You're quite right!
@jules13 That's the spirit! And no, not really, but I'm sure I'll live
@kelly2 Likewise
@pittcj17 Thank you very much - I think ;)
August 18th, 2014
Ah man flu!! Hope you feel much better now and have survived the ordeal. Brilliant shot
August 19th, 2014
@roseolivia Thanks very much - slowly improving
August 19th, 2014
Brilliant shot … possibly more commentary than is good for us! Do your best to get well …. I expect it will pass but if not I hope you have had an interesting life!
August 20th, 2014
@yrhenwr Unfortunately for everyone on here, it has passed and I will be staying, for today anyway. And thanks very much :)
August 20th, 2014
You make me laugh - and nod in recognition. Brilliant and very accurate observation of the nature of Man. Indeed. ;-) Fav.
August 24th, 2014
@bankmann Thanks very much
