What the hell is this??? by graemestevens

What the hell is this???

I'm still not 100%, which could well explain this kind of image from me. I've seen the birds sitting in and feeding from the Pohutakawa Tree in our garden countless times, on a daily basis in fact, and have often thought that I should try and get in touch with my more delicate, sensitive side one day and take a photo of them. Today was that day, and as a result do you think that the little feathered bastards would play the game??? No, they bloody well would not and I had to stand around for about 45 minutes waiting for this shot. Mongrels.
Great shot! I love the silhouette and action. Worth the wait!

oh dear - take your temperature - check pulse - oh check everything - where is Graeme?
oh there he is - bloody bastard birds hahaha - fab silhouette - now go back to bed and moan some more and you will feel better
August 18th, 2014
@maishanny Thanks very much :)
@annied Thanks very much - I had no intention of it being a "silhouette shot" but I thought if I have to photograph bloody bastard birds then its going to be dark!
August 18th, 2014
@graemestevens HAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my sides hurt
August 18th, 2014
@annied Hint: Stop laughing ;)
August 18th, 2014
@graemestevens can't haha
August 18th, 2014
hahahaha, I sit, stand, crawl, crouch for 30 minutes at a time to get a crap shot of birds most of the time. :) Agents of the devil those birds.
August 18th, 2014
And delicate, sensitive side? Birds are ruthless creatures. Ruthless. Best get your game on! And feel better. I have missed so much, so I hope you are ok. :)
August 18th, 2014
haha! You nailed it (figuratively, I hope!). Excellent and well worth the wait. You earned yourself a Fav!
August 18th, 2014
@darylo If they were really agents of the devil you'd think we'd be getting along famously, but I know what you're saying! Feeling slightly better thanks, so much so that this morning I managed to not go towards the light...
August 18th, 2014
Inconsiderate little sods. But it's great to see you triumphed over them.
August 18th, 2014
@eyeamlisa Thank you very much - I was actually dangerously close to nailing one of them to the tree!
August 18th, 2014
@golftragic Thanks very much - I'd let the tufted little buggers win
August 18th, 2014
Well, it's at least a silhouette, and dark, so it sort of disguises your 'delicate, sensitive' side.
August 18th, 2014
@bill_fe That's what I thought as well. Damned if I was going to go all "hemp wearing, bead rattling love and sunshine" on it.
August 18th, 2014
Sam
Have you seen the movie "The Omen". You are soooo doomed because you called the birds "bastards". You are in sooo much trouble.
August 18th, 2014
Haha, I have the same problem with many of the feathered variety that frequent the garden, I swear they see me reach for the camera hundreds of metres away or even inside the house. Maybe special bird powers. Great silhouettes especially the lower bird :-)
August 18th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower oh no - we are both in big trouble Graeme hahahaha
August 18th, 2014
Sam
@annied @graemestevens Oh yes Ms Annie, I see that you called them bastards as well. Ohhhhh nooooooo...........Damien is on the way!
August 18th, 2014
@hermann Thanks very much - it wasn't particularly warm out either
@gigiflower @annied If I can survive working for a corporate giant I can survive Damien
August 18th, 2014
@graemestevens I dealt with a Damien once and squashed him into the ground so I should be fine too hahahaha @gigiflower
August 18th, 2014
@annied @gigiflower No big threat really then...sigh. I was spoiling for a fight of supernatural scale as well
August 18th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower
well we can always toy with him Mwahahahahaha
August 18th, 2014
Are you sure that is real Graeme. I would have expected some taxidermy to help you out, or a gun to scare the little bast...er blighters (what is wrong with this iPad it changed my 'b- lighters' to blight ears and on my second attempt dropped the 'b' so I had to put it back in! I think a fit of conniptions are called for!
August 18th, 2014
@ceilidh My iPad leads me to conniptions all too often for much the same reasons!
August 18th, 2014
Worth the wait!
August 18th, 2014
Great shot, but I'm guessing wildlife photography might not be for you?
August 18th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied Remember folks, there was 3 Omen movies......so Damien could outlast you both ;)
August 18th, 2014
@gigiflower @graemestevens haha phht I think not Sam
August 18th, 2014
@ceilidh yesterday for my rhyme iPad corrected my wellies for a male anatomy part....v inappropriate for a child's rhyme......what was wrong with wellies?!
August 18th, 2014
I like soft and sensitive. I think you should fight it less.
August 18th, 2014
very dark and ominous shot of those birds for soft and sensitive - mind you I have a lot of failed bird shots from yesterday too
August 18th, 2014
this is amazing!
August 18th, 2014
@redy4et Thanks very much, I would have been happier if I was waiting with chocolate...
@chippy1402 Let's just say there wouldn't be much wildlife left...and thanks very much
@gigiflower @annied They were only movies. We're the real thing.
@newbank I get so frustrated with Bill Gates and Steve Job thinking they know what we want to say! Enough I say! Stop ducking correcting me!!! And thanks awfully.
@shannejw I seem to have a lot of shots of a tree with a space where a bird used to be...and thanks very much
@andrewkru Thank you very much :)
August 18th, 2014
I do have to pay attention to what it assumes I want to say! Even when the words are spelt right it decides I actually want something else.....grrumph. My new game is to make up words and see what it thinks I want to say. Grrumph in ipad is graph.
August 18th, 2014
@newbank The first suggestion in Word for the spelling of my name is "grime". It may be highly accurate but it's not what I'm after!
August 18th, 2014
My phone now has @gigiflower stored as a word. Clever phone....
August 18th, 2014
I have to teach every new device my name too, and most of the applications on said devices
August 18th, 2014
@gigiflower @newbank @graemestevens oh yes we are real - be afraid very afraid hahahahaha
oh all predictive text devices have you speaking gibberish - some of the messages I have sent - and I play those games too and see what it thinks I want to say
August 18th, 2014
Wonderful silhouettes great shot
August 18th, 2014
like this worked well -
August 18th, 2014
@tracelee Thank you very much
@lorrainelouise Thanks very much
@annied @shannejw @newbank @gigiflower I shall write a strongly worded letter to the manufacturers immediately. That should sort the problem out.
August 18th, 2014
Sam
@newbank SO HAPPY!!!!!
August 18th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied @newbank Will you use the word TWAT? That's pretty strong.....
August 18th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied @newbank Dear TWAT...hmmm, seems like a good start to a letter to me. That should win them over straight away.
August 18th, 2014
Those bird are rather 100%. Look at the balance. Amazing.
August 18th, 2014
@yaorenliu Thank you very much, they're amazing creatures alright.
August 18th, 2014
Way cool a bird shot that is moody and dark! Love it...now where's my gun? lol :)
August 18th, 2014
@gigiflower @newbank @graemestevens
I would throw in tumultuous, willy nilly and bombilate too because you will intimidate them with your clever vocabulary
apologies for the delay I was being beaten up - and doing a little back - at netball - pack of twats they were
August 18th, 2014
Sam
@annied Did you trip any of the twats over at netball?
August 18th, 2014
@gigiflower nah but I slapped and dug the elbow in and of course ground their toes into the court hahahaha
August 18th, 2014
Sam
@annied LOL tough lady!
August 18th, 2014
@gigiflower hahahaah oh I just get the s*#ts when they play dirty
August 18th, 2014
I really like this silhouette shot! So lovely!
August 18th, 2014
Well worth the 45 mins the timing is perfect. Really nice shot from a dying man!
August 18th, 2014
Great shot.
August 18th, 2014
Hahaha, so funny!!!! Love this shot though. Fav.
August 18th, 2014
WONDERFUL SHOT FAV
August 18th, 2014
@creativefool Thanks very much - as for the gun, I have dibs on it first!
@gigiflower @annied Shudder - I'd hate to trip over a twat...
@lilminimonka Thanks very much
@wearing0 Thanks very much - they just have no respect for the nearly dead :(
@denisefuller Thanks very much :)
@jesperani Thank you very much, appreciated
@pittcj17 Thanks very much as always :)
August 18th, 2014
This is a great silhouette. Very very nice. I don't think you get along with birds very well? But your pictures turn out fantastic. I hope you are feeling better! K
August 18th, 2014
@kt8ird I'm slowly getting there, thanks - as for the birds, my favourite is chicken. Roasted.
August 19th, 2014
@graemestevens Hilarious. I learned a lesson last week, if you turn your back on your dogs and a roasted chicken, you will lose your roasted chicken. :(
August 19th, 2014
@kt8ird LOL, we've learned the same lesson about lemon & poppy seed muffins. Including the wrapper.
August 19th, 2014
hahaha. Even your "delicate, sensitive" attempt ended up dark and mysterious. LOL Love it!
August 19th, 2014
@cindyloo Thanks very much - just can't help it :)
August 19th, 2014
@graemestevens Agreed. LOL
August 19th, 2014
Mystical birds, love this -much better than the bird pic I uploaded!
August 19th, 2014
@susale Thanks very much - at least your birds had the common decency to stay still for you!
August 19th, 2014
fantastic shot!....hope you are over your man flu :)
August 19th, 2014
fabulous silhouettes.
August 19th, 2014
@nookie72 thanks very much - back to work today :(
@blueberry1222 thank you kindly :)
August 19th, 2014
hahaha!!! But, in the end, it was worth all that waiting, and gritting of teeth, to get this lovely capture!
August 19th, 2014
@lynnilou Hurrumph. If you say so ;)
August 19th, 2014
This is just beautiful, love it!
August 19th, 2014
@roseolivia Thank you - a rare moment of calm
August 19th, 2014
i feel that these two are scouts ...just observing a new victem and shall return enmass......ala hitchcock...
August 19th, 2014
@tellefella LOL, I had actually thought of calling it "Hitchcock"
August 20th, 2014
@graemestevens ..a great movie....scared the .... out of me when i was a kid...
August 20th, 2014
@tellefella I've only seen it the once. That was enough.
August 20th, 2014
worth the wait! Lovely shot!
August 20th, 2014
@lisatown Thanks very much
August 20th, 2014
Next you will be posting bees and flowers. striking silhouettes. Love the blue. @tellefella That movie messed me up. And then when I lived in California, Bodega Bay became my favorite beach, though I was a bit leary of the birds.
August 20th, 2014
@amandal I'll never post bees and flowers...not normal flowers anyway ;)
August 20th, 2014
Isn't that how it always goes.....??? I love this shot and the softer focus!
August 22nd, 2014
@harbie Thanks very much
August 22nd, 2014
totally cool thou! love it as silhouettes
August 22nd, 2014
@livvy Thanks, much appreciated :)
August 22nd, 2014
I get your pain, man…
I once very carefully and quietly made my way into a flock of geese… All I got for my patience was the top half of one and the bottom half of the other… Weird picture, that was...
August 24th, 2014
@bankmann Haha...I have loads of photos of...well, places where birds used to be...
