Silence is Golden by graemestevens

Silence is Golden

This shot is neither inspired by nor dedicated to some (one) of the excessively racist, bigoted, narrow minded people that I know, but rather caused by them (him).
I don't have much to say about it as I am not a Drama Queen (despite appearances) but some things just "grind my gears" or, if you prefer, "rip my ration book".
If we could stop relying on hatred, selfishness, intolerance and contempt to drive us and instead try being human for a change then I'll gladly hand out Hip Hip Hoorays and High Fives to one and all.
oh I wish we could change - I really want to see you dressed up and handing out high fives and hip hoorays - just once mind you - then back to normal - I could definitely use this version of you though - I was decidedly out of sorts after a couple of conversations yesterday - love it btw

Thanks very much - I shall wear a tutu when the occasion arises
September 1st, 2014
I agree 100% with you! The text and the picture go so well together. Nice job as always!
September 1st, 2014
@daneau Thank you very much indeed :)
September 1st, 2014
It shouldn't be so difficult....and yet for some (make that many) it is damn near impossible....great shot amazing sentiment - thank you
September 1st, 2014
Well said! Very passionate shot!
September 1st, 2014
YES!!! EXACTLY!!!! Oooh...and a tutu, eh?? That'll be the next thing on fire. LOL - REALLY love this one, Graeme!!!
September 1st, 2014
Love your sentiment!
September 1st, 2014
Fav! And fav for your words too!
Excellent shot! I really like the bright white background! You look ready for battle, Braveheart-style!
September 1st, 2014
Great and crazy picture, but it is the words that give the picture its greatness. Bigotry and racism are sometimes blatant, but more often they subtle, and sometimes the subtle bigotry and racisim can be more damaging...all of it needs to be done away with! Fantastic post. Fav!
September 1st, 2014
Eeek! Such a fierce shot... well done. A+ for the sentiment behind it.
September 1st, 2014
First of all, awesome composition and photograph; which is what we've all come to expect and rely on from you. True artistry. Second, I praise your words and support them wholly, as I am father of two wonderful bi-racial children, aged 30 and 27. Fatherhood is father hood regardless of the DNA of the child.
September 1st, 2014
Great shot. I thought your wife wanted you to do the dishes until I read it.
September 1st, 2014
Well said...and well photographed. Nicely done Graeme. You always tell a story which is always very inspiring even tho sometimes a bit disturbing =)...and I agree...There is no room for that kind of thinking anymore blatant or subtle...We all SHOULD be able, in this day and age, to just get the bleep along and get rid of the ignorance. UGGH...

Anyway, as always...well done! AND...hoping to see that tutu one day...hopefully not on fire!
September 1st, 2014

@cindyloo Thanks...I may even burn it while wearing it!
@angeliekevl Thank you very much, appreciated

@ukandie1 Completely agree, and thank you :)
@rosiekerr Thank you very much indeed
@bigugly I completely and utterly agree, and thank you very much.

September 1st, 2014

September 1st, 2014
You capture anger well here.
September 1st, 2014
@mzzhope I second that!
September 1st, 2014
Sam
Goodness me, I wouldn't want to get in your way today! Have you calmed down yet?
September 1st, 2014
I'll keep my trap shut then
September 1st, 2014
Fantastic shot, great expression of anger. Racism and bigotry are intolerable.
September 1st, 2014
@mzzhope Thanks very much :)
@taffy Thank you, much appreciated
@cindyloo Thanks :)
@gigiflower I am as calm and sedate as ever...
@kali66 Oh? I'm intrigued...or should I not be?
September 1st, 2014
Well said Graeme, racism is especially rife here in South Africa and I hate the instant labels that get applied to "them"! I encountered it just this weekend from people who I don't expect it from.
It pushes my buttons too and feel like you look! Great way to portray your anger.
September 1st, 2014
really geared up to do something - swing into action? but yes, words are great
September 1st, 2014
Great way to put your message out there!
September 1st, 2014
zipped......
September 1st, 2014
@kali66 LOL, alrighty then...
@shannejw Thanks very much
@voiceprintz Thank you very much
September 1st, 2014
Oh yes, I´d drink to that but some people are just beyond hope, and there are people here too that make me feel the exactly like you do. Powerful stuff, you do express your emotions well; the anger is evident here.
September 1st, 2014
@susale And by here i mean where i live
September 1st, 2014
Bravo, I should vote you.
September 1st, 2014
That makes me angry too, I'd explode but that's a bit difficult to capture. Great attack shot!
September 1st, 2014
@dibzgreasley Thank you very much. Very few things really, really get me going, but this is one of them!
@susale Thanks very much - nobody is perfect but a little tolerance goes a long, long way
@yaorenliu Thank you...is it to late for me to start a party of my own?
@overalvandaan Thanks very much...very hard to capture an exploding me, the fuse is far too short
September 1st, 2014
cool (angry) shot. narrow minded people are such a big bug bear of mine. wishing you patience and tolerance - sounds like youre going to need it :-)
September 1st, 2014
@jaynspain Thank you very much indeed :) They (obviously) do my head in as well!
September 1st, 2014
Sue
I agree wholeheartedly. I think you could do with a punching bag to vent some steam! Fabulous shot to convey your frustration Graeme.
September 1st, 2014
@redpants Thank you very much, much appreciated
September 1st, 2014
You look grumpy. Which I understand quite rightly that you are.
September 1st, 2014
@newbank I was slightly miffed at the time. I am now a little ray of sunshine again. :)
September 1st, 2014
@graemestevens I note the use of the word little. Not full blown factor 50 suncream rays. Not a fan of the later so little rays are good with me.
September 1st, 2014
@newbank I dislike the sun. Down here it burns and burns - in summer our weather forecast on TV not only lists the temperature but a burn time as well, usually a matter of minutes in the middle of summer. Factor 50 is a given even when wearing wearing a kaftan and sombrero.
September 1st, 2014
@graemestevens The more I hear of the weather in NZ and Oz the more I like my British weather. Wet, cold, miserable, hint of sun, wet, dry, hint of sun, wet, cold, miserable, summer for 5 days, wet, cold, snow, snow, slush, wet, cold, hint of sun through clouds....
September 1st, 2014
Interesting. By the way belated birthday wishes. I hope you feel better soon
September 1st, 2014
@newbank I remember it well ;)
@deliad Thanks, thanks, and me too :) I'm sure I'll live to see the other side...
September 1st, 2014
I think I am scared to comment. Well done ! Anger personified!
September 1st, 2014
Judging by the image, you are seriously p...ed off, and quite rightly so :-)
September 1st, 2014
Brilliant self portrait, expresses your feeling beautifully. Well done!
September 1st, 2014
Oh my... you really captured anger very well.
September 1st, 2014
can't wait for the tutu!!
September 1st, 2014
Such true words and love how you express your anger and frustration!!
September 1st, 2014
Very expressive
September 1st, 2014
I totally concur.
September 1st, 2014
@lwain Thank you very much :)
@hermann I was, but I'm back to being a gentle, sedate soul now...and thanks very much
@kt8ird Thank you very much :)
@anazad511 Thanks very much
@pinkpaintpot Hmmm...yes, well...
@roseolivia Thanks very much :)
@wearing0 Thank you very much.
@blueberry1222 Excellent :) Thanks.
September 1st, 2014
Wowie, are you slobbering mad here? What is your weapon of choice here?
September 1st, 2014
This is more like you...the well behaved chap we saw the other day must have been an illusion . High fives & hip hoorays......never in a million years! NZ is a very relaxed place so what you would be like in a mad city space out in the proper world I dread to think! Perhaps some Camomile tea might be good?
September 1st, 2014
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do just that... but then again where would you get your inspiration from? You'd have to go all fluffy and pretty
September 1st, 2014
Fierce. And rightly so.
September 1st, 2014
@amandal In this shot my weapon of choice is my fists ;)
@happypat Thanks very much - we did live in London (or just out of) for 7 years...loved the city...and I never drink tea!!!
@denisefuller I'm sure I'd think of something!
@johenn Thank you kindly ;)
September 1st, 2014
Yep with you on this one.
September 1st, 2014
@rachelwithey Thanks very much :)
September 2nd, 2014
Fabulously expressive
September 2nd, 2014
Very elemental - and beautifully processed, Graeme
September 2nd, 2014
Don't think I would like to run into you in a dark alley, not in that demeanor anyway! Clever shot!
September 2nd, 2014
@scolgs Thanks very much :)
@vignouse Thank you kind sir
@tomtom Thanks very much - you're quite safe though as I'm terrified of dark alleys!
September 2nd, 2014
Well said, I'll second that motion!! Love the shot, expresses the inner barbarian very well.
September 2nd, 2014
@golftragic Thank you kindly - I try not to be too barbaric but sometimes it just gets the better of me
September 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens Just channel it to where blood 'n guts will improve general social amenity.
September 2nd, 2014
@golftragic So you want a food shot then? ;)
September 2nd, 2014
@graemestevens Oh, gross!!
September 2nd, 2014
Oh WOW! Bwahahahaha...this shot is awesome! I just cant help but love it!
September 2nd, 2014
@creativefool Thank you kindly :)
September 2nd, 2014
a perfect GI Joe !!
September 3rd, 2014
@cocobella LOL, thanks very much...not "buff" enough for that though!
September 3rd, 2014
Wow, excellent way to get out the aggression, turn it into art! Fun shot as always.
September 4th, 2014
@jess1204 Thank you very much :)
September 4th, 2014
:D feel this,, When I read your description probably even more so, my partner is of Indian heritage born in Canada and I am white British, we get our fair share of comments :(
Like my Grandfather would say - you cant educate pork.
September 16th, 2014
@amyleewinfield Love that quote from your grandfather, and thank you
