Other uses for a beach

Rather than swimming and other beach related activities, we like to do this sort of thing. This was taken last night on a Light Painting excursion to Waiwakaiho Beach, which is normally more well known for it's attraction to younger people that go out there for snogging and alcohol...needless to say we got a few strange looks and the place emptied out pretty quickly...
Awesome! That's one way to clear a beach! :)

@maishanny Thanks very much - it seemed to do the trick
October 11th, 2014
I and laughing out loud at your narrative the fact that you chase them stars away with your antics out there. I do love your light painting capture very much.

October 12th, 2014

October 12th, 2014

October 12th, 2014
This is fun and what did you use to paint, fire or torch? as the light is amazing.
October 12th, 2014
@yaorenliu Thanks very much - we used a very fine grade steel wool in a whisk. The whisk is attached to a chain and spun around. Great fun to do.
October 12th, 2014
That is super cool and fav :)
October 12th, 2014
This is great. On my bucket list although I am too lazy to do it.
October 12th, 2014
@graemestevens I leave it up to you if you bring snogging in to the mix......
October 12th, 2014
Looks like you had fun doing this
October 12th, 2014
Such a fun shot Graeme..
October 12th, 2014

October 12th, 2014

October 12th, 2014
Glittery sparkly hippy Fav man. Oh so groovy and bright. Youdazzle me with your lights and love. @gigiflower @banned
October 12th, 2014
@annied you keep coming out as banned.....
October 12th, 2014
Sam
@newbank @annied I'm in love with my hippy glittery nails :)
October 12th, 2014
@gigiflower nails? So don't bother with nails....here we get glue out and just sprinkle ourselves in it....
October 12th, 2014
Sam
@newbank I don't usually bother with them either however I was avoiding housework ;)
October 12th, 2014
King of the beach ...eh?
October 12th, 2014
@gigiflower surely there are better ways of avoiding housework? What colour are they?
October 12th, 2014
Sam
@newbank The good think about painting your nails is that once you paint, you still have to wait until they are dry - so you can waste double the time! They are a very dark green (nearly black) and the 2nd coat was coloured sparkles so I'm all glittery and sparkly!
October 12th, 2014
@gigiflower are your nails long? I'm not a tom boy, but neither am I very girly. I can not abide long nails they drive me crazzzzxiiiiieeeeeee to the point I would like to behave in the style of mr s and do untold damage to humanity.
October 12th, 2014
Great sparks! This looks like such fun but no one wants to try it with me.
October 12th, 2014
Sam
@newbank Oh goodness no - I have very short fingernails because I play in the garden all the time. And I can't type with long nails either. I only painted my toes, not my fingers. My corporate work would not cope with me having sparkly fingernails. I would get told off!
October 12th, 2014
Looks like fireworks!
October 12th, 2014
@gigiflower fair enough. Right my half hour lie in is up I need to go get up.....
October 12th, 2014
Sam
@newbank Have a wonderful day!
October 12th, 2014

October 12th, 2014
you must divulge how you manage this - the light bits are very high - hmmm - I am intrigued - very nicely done however you did it
October 12th, 2014
You eschewed snogging and alcohol for photography? I don't know whether to be impressed or sad! You did get a fabulous result though.
October 12th, 2014
Wow!! Worth chasing the others away.
October 12th, 2014

@thistle Thanks very much :)
@annied Thank you kindly. I have a length of chain about 59cm long with a steel whisk attached. Inside the whisk is some fine grade steel wool which burns very, very well. Once alight, start spinning and hey presto...
October 12th, 2014
Interfering old people!! Very creative image - well done!
October 12th, 2014

Oh, this is wonderful! We also have our little Night Photography Lovers group, and tend to do this sort of thing, preferably at the beach where the fiery steel wool can be put out in the water. Great fun! You got a good shot out of this one.
October 15th, 2014
@panthora Thanks very much - I did make a dash to the water to extinguish various bits & pieces...
