Well hello by graemestevens

Well hello

Yesterday we went for a wander around Tupare Gardens, which also has an historic house on the site...as historic as houses can get in New Zealand anyway. It's a very dignified garden, extremely well tended and maintained. I took one of my skulls as I find it infinitely more interesting than flowers...and I quite liked the way that his eye sockets seemed to glow. Maybe he was excited by having an outing...
Hehe, well done, it could have been left with some tinsel and Xmas fairy lights. Do you have a man bag for his outings or do you just carry him under your arm :)

Great shot. Bringing a skull with you is going above and beyond. Well worth it in this case.

Ha ha taking a scull for a trip out....hope you hid it in a bag!! It does look well posing here though.......I see you said 'we' not sure what your wife thought about going for a walk with.a scull!
December 13th, 2014
Great leading line. I wondered how you managed to find a skull there.
December 13th, 2014
Nice comp, Graeme. Do you carry your skulls in a sack, or just flat out in your arms?
December 13th, 2014
Great focus and shot Graeme...Fav
December 13th, 2014
he looks like an alien... and i love him for that :)
December 13th, 2014
LOVE! Superior to flowers any old day! :)
December 13th, 2014
:D nice capture x I agree with Northy though, it looks a tad Alien.
December 13th, 2014
@amyleewinfield Thanks very much...I'm not telling what it's a skull of ;)
@juliedduncan Thank you very much :)
@northy I love him for that as well :)
@tonygig Thank you kindly :)
@bigugly Thanks - I just carry him around....
@aecasey I am prepared for anything...
@happypat She didn't mind, she knows I'm a nut bar
@karlow75 Thank you very much :)
@hermann I just carry him, we don't mind - and thanks very much
December 13th, 2014
This is epic!!---as always:)
December 13th, 2014
Those eyes are really freaky, very cool and I love that you went out for a walk with the skull
December 13th, 2014
I wonder what people think of you carrying your skull around!
December 14th, 2014
@joemuli Thanks very much
@rachelwithey Thanks very much - I like some company every now and then ;)
@shepherdmanswife I wonder...they don't seem brave enough to tell me ;)
December 14th, 2014
Glad you won't be coming for dinner, probably
December 14th, 2014
Very cool! The lighting in the eye sockets is great!
December 14th, 2014
@trinda LOL, more than likely most people are glad of that!
@eyeamlisa Thanks, didn't notice it until I downloaded!
December 14th, 2014
Only you would think of taking BYO skull while going on a garden ramble... nice shot as skull shots go...
December 14th, 2014
Fantastic - so do you sneak the skull in or carry it proudly for all to see? I do a lot of shots at a local botanical garden...but have yet to see one like this....and am trying to picture the circumstances in which this might happen :)
December 14th, 2014
great shot, i like it. not sure i would be very patient if chris started lumping an old skull round to take pics of it on days out :-)
December 14th, 2014
As you do.... All sane photographers carry a skull with them. It / he. / she does look at home though.
December 14th, 2014
I see you skullk around public gardens, and what is that ahead on the wall? I think it is rather sad when the only person (thing) that will go for a walk in the park with you is dead......
December 14th, 2014
This is a great shot, love it!
December 14th, 2014
Neat context for the skull
December 14th, 2014
@nanm Thank you very much :)
@ounooi Thanks very much, appreciated
@deliad I like to have some company on my walks...and Kim was with me too. She's well aware of my peculiarities though...
@newbank Of course I do...it's someone to talk to...
@jaynspain Thank you kindly. My lovely wife is very tolerant of my insanity
@deak68 Who needs circumstances? ;) And thanks very much - I always carry it proudly
@julzmaioro Thanks very much :) I am somewhat odd...
December 14th, 2014
awesome shot! Love how the leading line of the wall leads you in towards the skull!
December 14th, 2014
@nicoleterheide Thanks very much :)
December 14th, 2014
I am not sure why so many think it is odd to carry a skull around. It certainly suits the surroundings
December 14th, 2014
The wall make great lead lines, like the dof
December 14th, 2014
@annied I'm struggling with that as well because it seems like a perfectly reasonable, sane thing to be doing...and thank you :)
@andy3168 Thanks very much
December 14th, 2014
Are they chatty back?
December 14th, 2014
Fabulous line Graeme. :D
December 14th, 2014
I do, do like this flower, it's so different than all the others! Love the leading line, great shot.
December 14th, 2014
Nice of you to take the skull out for a walk. It fits in quite well there.
December 14th, 2014
@newbank Inside my head yes...but apparently less so on the outside...
@tw Thanks very much :)
@overalvandaan Thank you kindly, always appreciated
@bill_fe Thanks very much - it would be rude of me not to, everyone deserves an outing from time to time
December 14th, 2014
At first glance I thought you put your skull on the front of a toy train. His eyes do look eerie.
December 14th, 2014
This is positively Dali-esque... I'm only sorry that we don't have a pic of you both wandering through the gardens with you quoting, "Alas, poor Yorrick, we knew him well...".
December 15th, 2014
@kt8ird If I had a toy train I probably would ;)
@vignouse We did know him well, but then this happened so I can only assume that he didn't know us very well ;)
December 15th, 2014
Sue
A skull tucked under one arm, camera around the neck ... you must have been quite a sight Graeme :p
December 15th, 2014
Love this, very interesting!
December 15th, 2014
really draws the eye in...makes me wonder what I'm looking at!
December 15th, 2014
@redpants I'm always quite a sight ;)
@susale Thanks very much :)
@blueberry1222 Thank you very much :)
December 15th, 2014
What a delightful addition to the dignified garden. I think the skull - all clean and spiffy - fits right in!
December 16th, 2014
@voiceprintz Thank you - it was the only thing we bought along that did fit in...
December 16th, 2014
Really great POV!
December 16th, 2014
@jess1204 Thank you kindly :)
December 16th, 2014
Cool Shot!!!
December 16th, 2014
@livvy Thank you kindly :)
December 16th, 2014
That glow's getting to me
December 18th, 2014
@ceilidh It's quite spooky, didn't even notice it until I downloaded
December 18th, 2014
This is a FAV......love the composition, and the placement of that skull is superb!! You really should take him out on outings more often.....he seems so delighted, and yes, his eyes do glow! Too bad you did not tag this one for the theme-mascot....it would have been nice to see him in the top 5!!
December 19th, 2014
@panthora I didn't even know that mascot was the theme! And thank you
December 19th, 2014
Sam
Loving the spooky eyes!
December 19th, 2014
@gigiflower Thank you kindly - didn't notice them until I downloaded it
