Wrecked

Happy New Year all...it has come to my attention that I feel more or less like this ship wreck after last nights activity. Again.
This is the wreck of the Gairloch which ran aground on the coast just south of New Plymouth on 5th January 1903 on what, according to the records, was (somewhat logically) "a dark night". The only things that were salvaged from the wreck was linen, cutlery and alcohol so I can only imagine that the crew had partying on their minds.
Superb capture and I cannot fathom how any of it has gone not scavenged.

@bigugly Thanks very much - There's not much left now, just this portion, but to last 100+ years is a good effort I think. Apparently if you're prepared to have "a short wade out to sea" you can still the remains of the engines as well...

impressively cool image.
January 1st, 2015
Interesting, I just did a little reading on it. I was hoping to find out what type engines were on it, thinking perhaps, one of ours. We've been making engines for well over a hundred years at my facility.

January 1st, 2015
Happy new year Graeme, super shot
January 1st, 2015
I love that you are spending so much of your holiday from work in such self-induced sad shape. Did you know, Mr S, that mild intoxication is the feeling of 10,000 brain cells drowning? Can you imagine how many you've drowned in the last week or so? It's an interesting point to ponder. oh...I've killed my share, too. Cheers!

Like the photo, too. Best wishes to you and your family for the new year.
January 1st, 2015
Love it, it has this apocalyptic feel, very impressive. Hope you feel back to your normal self soon, festivities get us all you know, It´s not like I`d feel like a queen today ;)
January 1st, 2015
@annied Yeah yeah, they all say that ;)
@jaynspain Thank you very much :)
@tonygig Thank you very much and likewise to you
@dh Thank you kindly :)
@888rachel Thanks so much, appreciated
@andy3168 Thanks very much and the same to you
@voiceprintz Thank you very much and best wishes to you. It is an interesting point to ponder...and I must have had an excess of cells as I still seem to have the ability to string a coherent sentence together. Although spell check does seem to be doing its fair share of the work ;)
@susale Thank you kindly - it's just the time of year when over indulgence shows us a thing or two!
January 1st, 2015
A great shot and the processing is neat too. Happy New Year - day two of 2015, so hopefully you're back on deck again, so to speak.
January 1st, 2015
@annied and Graeme - your banter makes me smile and I love the humour! This photo is a real graphic portrayal of a wreck - a stark reminder of what can happen at a party!
January 1st, 2015
Happy new year
January 1st, 2015
Must have been a major party, that is some metaphor. Love it.n
January 1st, 2015

January 1st, 2015
Looking at today's shot and this one. Love them both but this one in particular - maybe you didn't need to walk those 11 steps! Happy new year.
January 1st, 2015
Very dramatic!
January 1st, 2015
@graemestevens unstable - well I did fall of the float into the pool - saved my slushy though :)
January 1st, 2015
@rachelwithey Happy New Year to you too, and it's too late for that now!
@kt8ird Thanks very much :)
@annied As long as your slushy is safe the all is well
January 1st, 2015
@graemestevens then the all is well hahahaha - well the slushy is slooshed now as I drank it but that's the same as safe
January 1st, 2015
@annied I could do with a slushy having just mowed the lawns...I seem to be sweaty than a sweaty thing that sweats a lot.
January 1st, 2015
@graemestevens oh - that sounds terribly gross - sweaty things that sweat a lot are very sweaty
January 1st, 2015
@annied They do tend to drip as well, and in my experience people who drip are unsavoury characters
January 1st, 2015
I like the PoV, the processing and the gaunt starkness of this... easy Fav.
January 1st, 2015
@graemestevens oh yes drippers are quite unsavoury and they are not sweet either
January 1st, 2015
@vignouse Thank you very much kind sir
@annied I have now stopped dripping
