Taranaki is arguably New Zealand's largest oil and gas producing province, so coupled with the vastness of New Zealand's dairy farming capabilities you could say that we have a lot of...well, gas.
This is Kapuni which, most of the time, is a bit of an eyesore but on some days it can pretend to be almost picturesque. Interestingly enough, Kapuni translates as "natural gas", while Kapu is "in the palm of the hand"...so I have a handful of gas...
One other piece of useless information about the Kapuni Production Station is that security patrols tend to frown upon people taking photographs...which makes me wonder what else they could be doing in there, but I can tell you now that if they're planning on launching an all out attempt at world domination they'll have some pretty stiff competition from my base in the garden shed, what what!
So, if you've got this far, why not have a wee gander on black...
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
Unless they are doing something illegal what would they frown on someone taking pictures? Seems a little ridiculous. Now I could see them getting upset if someone were setting off fireworks.
I did have a gander on black... I love how the smoke obscures the base of the mountain, so that the top peeps out above. Your edit is terrific at bringing out the details of the smoke. This is really a beautiful mountain. As a bonus, you are planning on world domination from your shed and I believe that you are likely to be successful. Please remember me with mercy when you are crushing subjects under your heel, like bugs.
i like the optical illusion created here... somehow the mountain tops look like they don't quite belong! please let me know if you require any assistance with the world domination thing...
@janiskay I didn't waste time asking them why I shouldn't take photos...but it was the filthy looks and the fact that I've tried before and been turned away... @aecasey We've been surrounded by low cloud for most of the day...seems to work for this... @rosiekerr Mercy! I shall show none! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh, and thanks very much, much appreciated ;) @northy I'm still working on a business case for my financial department but I'll be sure to let you know!
Cool shot. I have worked in places like this and they don't want people taking pictures. But I think technology is kicking their ass. #1 every body has a camera on the phone. #2 With an ok camera and 70-300 lens. I can get a photo of the water tower in town and read the name of the town on the water tower with a photo of it. The town is 5 miles away as a crow flies. I am sure if bad guys wanted a photo of their Ref. they would have a better camera than most people have, So I think the real reason for not wanting photos taken is because, Not everything they to is up to code and don't want someone getting a picture of it. So keep the garden shed doors shut so people can't peek in. Planning on launching an all out attempt at world domination you got to be sneaky.
@annied@graemestevens Mmm, Ms Annie, what language are you speaking? And as for Mr Stevens working............well he seems to still have a lot of time on his hands to take photos! Just wondering! Mr Stevens doesn't really talk to me anymore - I must have done something to upset him. Oh well, his loss!
@gigiflower he talks to noone Miss Sam and that is my point - hesis busy in his new job - photos taken on a single outing
English - the me was a typo silly
I am willing to allow him a little more time to settle in - not much more though lol
@taffy I guess it does, thanks for pointing me in that direction :) @mothermalarky There is that and it is me ;) @pinkpaintpot Thanks very much - it's a bit like that but it looked half way decent today instead of just down right ugly. @wildernesswillie Thanks very much...and yes, I tend to agree on the reasons for not wanting those shots taken! @888rachel Thanks you very much indeed :) @gigiflower Yes, I do work an awful lot. This was taken on my way to a meeting in the back blocks, I figured I could get away with stopping for 5 minutes...Oh, and thanks very much :) @annied Fair enough.
@gigiflower@annied it was me that was not happy. That was about the third or forth time I'd asked him to deal with inappropriate comments and he didn't know how to so he went silent. Happy wife = happy life
@karlow75 Thanks very much indeed, I even have blue prints for my plan...and some wiring... @jack4john Thank you very much - I wouldn't dare double expose around that place! @overalvandaan Thank you very much, always appreciated. @yaorenliu Thanks very much, on both counts
Fabulous shot! Love how the mountain peak emerges out of the smog! I almost wish you had cropped it tighter to that and eliminated some of the foreground. FAV in any case!!
@auphoff Thank you very much :)
