Oh the Drama! by graemestevens

Oh the Drama!

As with anything else I do, including trips to the beach, I seem to find high drama...this is of course "my" beach, complete with the 'Sugar Loaf Islands'. They are so named because Captain Cook, when exploring and mapping the coastline of New Zealand, thought that they resembled lumps of sugar. Captain Cook was obviously a bit of a dick and was in desperate need of an eye test.

My other shot for the day, for those that have missed my smiling face over the last week, can be found here:

Looks more like the lock ness monster....

Did you think that Captain Cook got his sugar in little paper wrapped packets rather than fist sized lumps of crystal sugar?
March 5th, 2016
@vignouse Not at all - I'd be very concerned if his sugar was covered in shrubbery and sea gulls though...
@newbank My thoughts exactly.

Fabulous shapes and clouds..
March 5th, 2016
@dibzgreasley Thanks very much - it was the clouds that did it for me

I never knew Ole Captn Cook's name was Dick! Dick Cook - doesn't run off the tongue smoothly!
March 5th, 2016
@maggiemae I'd say it runs off the tongue dangerously...
March 5th, 2016
nice. And dramatic...
March 5th, 2016
A pretty shot! i like "your" beach!
March 5th, 2016

I do love drama...especially of the 2 dimensional kind.

ohn morley Poor old Cap Cooke probably never saw granulated sugar so was used to a lumpy rock like sweetner. The Cap was a boyhood hero of mine, I had a Ladybird book that told me he brought enlightenment to the savages on the other side of the world. So before you have a go at the poor man , maybe he is the reason you are the erudite gentleman you are today . The bloody Hawaiians bashed his head in because he corrected them on the proper placement of a semicolon . bastards make me angry..
March 5th, 2016
yeah...he SAID it was sugar....
March 5th, 2016
It is not even in the square shape. Must be the half melted English sugar in tea.
March 5th, 2016
And of course the clouds are superb :)
March 5th, 2016
@jack4john Loved your commentary :)))
March 5th, 2016
haha love your assesment of Cpt Cook!
March 5th, 2016
@jack4john Thanx for the brief history lesson and I will never say anything negative about Cap. Cooke. I had no idea he met such a ghastly end. However to go to a complete extreme, from my perspective it kinda looks like the spine of Godzilla. Lovely beach capture.

Nothing like a little drama.
March 5th, 2016
@juleshoogstraanderson Thank you very much - and yes, his end was rather grisly...
@brigette You're welcome ;)
@hermann Thank you very much - it was what attracted me to the shot
@yaorenliu It's the only explanation ;)
@maree_sanderson The first man to smuggle cocaine in to New Zealand
@jack4john To my mind there's nothing worse than the misplacement of a semi-colon...
@taffy Thank you very much - I'm a bit of a drama queen myself...
@northy You and me both ;)
@kwind Thanks very much...just stay off it ;)
@lsquared Thank you kindly ;)
March 5th, 2016
@amandal It's the only thing that gets me through the day. And wine.
March 5th, 2016
Beautifully dramatic!
March 5th, 2016
@ukandie1 Thank you very much :)
March 5th, 2016
Reminds me more of Nessie, but I guess it's too much for Cook, a Pom, to give landmarks Scottish names.
March 6th, 2016
@golftragic I would imagine so...they're more likely to form an orderly queue to admire it
March 6th, 2016
Super duper gorgeousness.
March 6th, 2016
Fabulous! Love the light!
March 6th, 2016
Hahaha your text doesn't disappoint, as usual... :) Great shot and drama indeed!
March 6th, 2016

More drama than the Royal Shakespeare Company. :)
March 7th, 2016
@swillinbillyflynn Yes, but less tights ;)
March 8th, 2016
When’s the Nautilus going to show up, I want to know.
April 10th, 2016
@bankmann You and me both

My humbles apologies Mr Graeme Sir...but it was wirh misgivings that I rejoined 5+2. I should have known that Kali bitch would rear her ugly head against me again! Since my life is now a drama-free zone, I'm out. What is she even doing thinking she can be Quuen Bee when she can't even be fucked posting herself??? I'd get rid of her if I were you. Over and out!
June 6th, 2016
@tabbycat You're out??? To be honest, I've been thinking of leaving it anyway as there have been overt (and not so overt) attempts at censorship of some of my shits, and I don't buy that at all. I'd be much more interested if it were a bit more a "free thinking" group that was more open to experiment, concept and vision than rules and regulations. Sadness :( Keep being you.
