Inhospitable

Ahhh...black & white. This was taken at Pukerua Bay on the Kapiti Coast. In the distance is Kapiti Island which is one of our oldest wild life reserves. Personally the phrase "wild life reserve" has never made sense to me. After all, if you're wild you're hardly likely to be reserved about it are you?
And yes, I was on my knees yet again for this shot.
Quite nice on black if you have the time.
This is great in b&w!

Fabulous texture and POV.

Looks great on black. Love that you've included the rocks. I usually shoot past them but it's much more dramatic to include them in the frame. Especially at this time of year! Fav

@aikiuser It is that, and thank you very much
@harbie Thank you very much - I didn't even try it in colour. It seemed to just want to be in B&W

May 26th, 2016
@annied Oh. Right. I did wonder ;)
May 26th, 2016
when I saw this on the PP I knew it was yours immediately. Awesome shot!
May 26th, 2016
"Quite nice on black" is a humongous understatement.
May 26th, 2016
Sloths can be quite reserved I find. Cool shot especially on black. :)
May 26th, 2016
@swillinbillyflynn I bet they're seething on the inside...and thank you very much
@gazdi Thank you kindly my good man, you are nothing short of a scholar and a gentleman

May 26th, 2016
noice...i suppose sloths could seethe... slowly...
May 26th, 2016
Unreservedly great. That's a really striking image:)
May 26th, 2016
One that is reserved can be known to go wild after a few to many! Love the image btw.
May 26th, 2016
FABULOUS...
May 26th, 2016
very alien terrain...
May 26th, 2016
@jack4john That must be why I felt so at home ;)

@maree_sanderson A gentle simmer perhaps?
May 26th, 2016
There could be some oysters there in those rugged rocks! "Round the rugged rocks a ragged rascal ran".......
May 26th, 2016
Lee
Looks very unwelcoming, you may have the spot to yourself. Good shot.
May 26th, 2016
Somewhat reminds me of the tectonic rift in Iceland.
May 26th, 2016
amazing. But that's quite usual, isn't it?
May 26th, 2016
Fabulous composition. Love that island in the background.
@snaggy
May 26th, 2016
@snaggy Thank you very much - it took me ages to put that island there ;)
@domenicododaro Thank you very much, but good lord no...I have my fair share of incompetence!
@blueberry1222 We're on a major fault line so...
@gamelee Thank you very much - and I like to have my spots to myself ;)
@maggiemae I may be a rascal but I'm far from ragged...most days
May 27th, 2016
Bet you didn't have bare feet in there. Love the pov though, really highlights the terrain so well.
May 27th, 2016
Fantastic contrast and texture
May 27th, 2016
@elytra Thank you very much :)
@golftragic Definitely not - big boots
May 27th, 2016
This terrain looks rather uncompromising... a bit like your goodself!
May 28th, 2016
@vignouse Why thank you kind sir - it's certainly not somewhere I'd go with no shoes
May 28th, 2016
I do like rugged shades of grey! Hope the knees have recovered.
May 28th, 2016
@yrhenwr There were plenty of sharp pointy bits digging in to my sharp pointy bits but I'm sure I'll survive
May 28th, 2016
Haha...good point! U do b&w exceptionally well don't you?
May 29th, 2016
@tabbycat Thank you (blush). I find B&W a lot easier to "handle" than colour. I tend to look at a shot before I take it and know whether it's going to work in B&W or if it's just going to be a screaming mess of hideous colour.
