conquest

This is the "Conquest Stereophonic Record Changer" manufactured by Collaro in Essex. It has 4 speeds and consists of an apparently "revolutionary new design for automatic pick-up positioning"...and although it's need of a good service it does still work.
A cool retro find :)

So very cool. Love the wood box. Time for some macro photogs of needle on vinyl :)

@kevin365 As soon as I can track down the right needle and cartridge then definitely. The mechanism all still works but it needs a very thorough service (luckily I know "a guy"). The cabinetry is all oak as well. Really looking forward to getting her spick and span again

@graemestevens ooooh! A project :)

It looks solid enough! We have about 3 dozen records in the store room if you want them!
September 2nd, 2016
Beautiful. It's yours? I think I never had a 16RPM record.
September 2nd, 2016
wow... it's fabulous!

Far Out! (at least I think that is 60's ish speak) Please don't forget about us as you get lost in this project.

@joysabin I'll still be here - it shouldn't be too bad and I have an electrician on board that works in exchange for cake...
@kwind Isn't it...looking forward to refurbishing it.
@patopeters Thank you and yes, it's ours - just waiting to be refurbished.
@maggiemae It's very solid, actually in very good nick for it's age. I still have records :)

@kevin365 Oh yes, definitely. Full refurb and retrofitting to pick up FM and play MP3's as well as the LP's of course. I have an electrician friend who works for cake so we're both excited!

Great score!

@adayinmallacoota The best part is that it only cost me a bottle of wine!!!
September 3rd, 2016
It is beautiful ☺
September 3rd, 2016
And definitely worth the bottle of wine 😀

I don't miss records...they were a pain in the ass...the needle would bend, get all dusty, records would skip, scratch, bend, crack....waste of money. But, I digress...
September 3rd, 2016
Looks like you're gonna have fun.
September 3rd, 2016
how cool! Enjoy!

Four speed? I don't think I have come across less then 33 rpm. I do have Beethoven's 9th symphony on 78s! Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah... CLUNK... Nah nah nah nah, naah n'naah...CLUNK.... Would be good to hear it on The Conquest because my record deck can only m,manage one at a time ... if you can't do that, then can you incorporate it in a bundle of things destined for a Time-Capsule launch? Or maybe an Apocalyptic vision?
September 3rd, 2016
@yrhenwr It's the first time I've seen 4 speeds as well - it all works, but at more of a limp than a run so...work to be done!
@jesperani Thank you very much :)
@golftragic And a few bouts of cursing I should think ;)
@blueberry1222 LOL, I love them, always have...the scratching and skipping is part of the charm ;)
@annied It is a thing of beauty and everything, as you well know, is worth a bottle of wine ;)
