Brrrr. whirrr, ping, pong and perplexity!

@brigette You and me both (it's the underside of an old record player, so rest easy)
@maggiemae Yes, why not ;)

First thought was interesting looking clock workings but then noticed your tags. I never knew that a turntable would require so much engineering!

@salza This is a 1963 Collaro - the newer ones are mostly belt driven so nowhere near as complex, plus this one plays 4 speeds (16, 33, 45 and 78 RPM) as well having a "stacker" so it's bit more complex...and you probably bored rigid now... ;)

How interesting! I like the grittiness of the nuts and bolts - a real piece of old fashioned engineering given the sci-fi look to bring it into the 'now' world.

A tangle of metal, fab

Great close up of all the nuts, bolts and springs xx

Rather grim.

Cool capture of all those thingies :)

What a great idea! Fantastic photo

too complex the future,
so you took it literally, turntable :-)
September 24th, 2016
great capture of the thingymebobs in your new toy :-)

@lsquared It has to have some redeeming qualities ;)
@jesperani Thank you very much :)
@overalvandaan It had to come out so that I could work on it...and so that I could have a proper look
@shylaine3304 Thanks very much :)
@hermann Thank you kindly :)
@yaorenliu Just a touch...
@psychographer Thanks very much - I was thinking that I could call in "my knee joint" and see how many people believed me ;)
@dibzgreasley Thank you very much :)
@wag864 Thanks very much - it's a bit more complicated than I had expected but I'm sure we can fix it without having too many parts left over...

I've no idea about the workings. But I like the tones you have captured and the light on your subject
September 24th, 2016
If only.... but you could be right. We'll have to do something when the electricity goes down forever!
September 24th, 2016
Amazing capture, love it:)
September 24th, 2016
@joemuli Thanks very much :)
@yrhenwr To be honest I'd rather live well away from this sort of thing anyway!
@littlequeenie Thank you very much :)

Have to admire this - the complexity of the gears, springs and then out come music.
September 24th, 2016
@joysabin It amazes me...the thought behind it
September 24th, 2016
Oooh I like this so much... and where your mind went with it, too.
September 26th, 2016
@kerosene It just seemed to fit...and thank you
September 26th, 2016
I like this a lot, especially the pov and comp. I thought it looked vaguely familiar, then I read your reply to Bridgette.
September 27th, 2016
@bill_fe Thank you - it's certainly a work in progress getting this thing up and running again
September 27th, 2016
better than the ugly apartments going up everywhere
September 28th, 2016
@annied There is that...which is why I choose to live at Tumbledown Manor
