On a day where the shaking will not stop, this is all you're getting. There has been no substantial damage where we live but the aftershocks continue to roll through.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
@epcello Thanks very much - you just end up putting up with it. We're far enough away from the epicentres for no substantial damage but it's still a bit nerve wracking! @karlow75 It is good to hear...and thank you @joysabin Thank you very much :) @annied Minimally nice too... @shylaine3304 We're far enough from the epicentres that there's been no substantial damage but it just gets to a point where it's tiring and annoying @kerosene Thank you very much - what can you do though? Ride it out...I've been under a few door frames lately...
I was thinking about you this morning, but figured you were far enough away from Christchurch to be OK. Those poor buggers have already had enough, life is most unfair.
cool shot. my family give me shit for photographing dead bugs. especially the one where i arranged a bunch of dead flies into a circle. perhaps i'll frame that one and give it my sister for xmas.. And yes, the shaking was quite exciting. at least i got the day off work I suppose. Wgtn CBD was a no-go zone today
@katrinanz Yes, my head office was completely shut so it was a very quiet day...and I know what you mean, I get all sorts of hassles when I photograph dead things, more so when I rearrange them! @golftragic You have to feel for them - now major damage here but it's certainly not pretty down south
Minimalistic and high key. Cool capture.
Not pleasant to be having earthquakes and after shocks. They can be scary. We live in an area that gets tremors pretty much monthly. No big earthquakes. The last one was around 4 on the Richter scale and was last December. No major damage or injuries but enough to knock things off shelves and pictures off the wall. Decidedly minimal compared to what is happening in New Zealand!
@olenadole Thank you very much :) @motherjane We're a fair distance from the epicentre so no substantial damage but the aftershocks have been rolling through all day. @salza I'm pretty sure that the South Island would love a 4 right now - the aftershocks are still coming and will for a long while yet! @scotthouston Thank you very much - on both counts @taffy Thank you very much
Curious enough that antipodal New Waeladn and Italy are shaking more or less at the same time... Glad to know you and your family are safe. And superb photo, as always!
@susale They're saying they'll continue for maybe 3 months...there's been another 4 in the last 5 minutes or so that we've felt. @domenicododaro Thank you very much - it's all connected though, so if you give one plate a nudge the others will have a rumble as well.
My friend lives outside Christchurch & had just moved back into their home they had rebuilt. Not heard news about the house yet. So sad, I travelled around NZ (years ago!!) & can safely say it's the most beautiful country. Hope everyone there stays safe.
@jack4john Oh you know, just rattling the cage a little....and thank you @kwind Thank you very much :) @kevinrudzinski Thank you very much :) @bill_fe Thank you very much - no substantial damage, just a damn good ride @hermann You and me both! @pistache If I have anything to do with it it will! @kt8ird I like them dead as well, and thank you :) @jesperani Thank you very much :) @brigette Thank you - just look at the white space then ;) @jclaireyp Christchurch seems to be okay, this one was centred further north at Kaikoura (which is still cut off due to the roads being torn apart)! @susale It won't be too bad where we are but it just gets to the point where you ignore the smaller tremors...
The fav is for the image and not for any sympathy for you living in a gorgeous paradise that has the occasional shake. In all seriousness standing in a doorway is meant to be good or was that from nuclear attack. Keep safe.
@paul10 Thanks very much - we're okay where we are but the South Island has taken a bit of a beating @pasttheirprime We spent a lot of time under our doorway on Friday morning. It was then that I realised it could do with repainting ;)
@tjsworld Thank you very much - we're okay where we are but the South Island and Wellington have taken a pounding from the earthquakes, and today they have flooding and severe weather!
Fantastic - saw this and was drawn to it, came back a second time and realised it was yours! Wow! Keep safe - something I think you don't plan to do all that often.
@novab Thank you very much - I quite often photograph dead bugs... @cottiac Thank you so much - every now and then I'll do something "different"... @vignouse Oh I've been drinking plenty of wine...now I'm not sure where the shaking is coming from....
If I didn't follow you I would never have known about this. 365 is the only place I get the news at the moment because its all so bleak out there and I just can't take any more! I expect a response from you in which you shake your fist at the fates. Glad you are only shaken... better than this poor little fellow for whom it was all too much.
@yrhenwr I tend to avoid the news at the moment as well - it is all rather glum and depressing. I only knew about the earthquakes because I was in them....
