grillers in the mist by graemestevens

grillers in the mist

It's been another hectic day today. With head office closed due to earthquakes and now flooding some bright spark decided that it would be a good idea to divert the help desk phones to random, staffed mobile numbers until Australia decided to get out of bed. "Snowed under" would be the appropriate phrase I believe. I may also have uttered the occasional unsavoury curse.
Dude... I'm laughing so hard right now...!!! That's the best damn title EVER !

I just love that you call them "grillers." Excellent baleful stare from your subject. Sorry about all the chaos, but I am glad that you and the family are OK.

The fog looks so great, composition is fantastic

@shylaine3304 Thank you very much :)
@rosiekerr Thank you very much - it's those further south that I feel for...and what else are they if not grillers? ;)
@tjsworld Thank you kindly - makes up for a rushed shot!!!
November 15th, 2016
Hope your day gets better. Love your shot and caption.

This reminded me those 3 cows stranded in the little grassy pinnacle. I hope someone get a helicopter to rescue them.
November 15th, 2016
@yaorenliu I don't think they've been rescued yet...not that I've heard anyway
@888rachel Thank you very much :)
November 15th, 2016
Super shot... great composition!
November 15th, 2016
@kwind Thank you very much :)
November 15th, 2016
The main subject seems to be very empathetic to you. Never heard of 'grillers' before...just regular cows?
November 15th, 2016
Looks very muck like what I am looking out on at the moment..
November 15th, 2016
This is excellent - sorry to hear about the issues you are having. Are the quakes still going?
November 15th, 2016
They have been rescued by the way - they all actually slid down the cliff on their bums! Like the misty shot!
November 15th, 2016
This is great. I love the empty space and the cow looking right at you in the front. Fav.
November 15th, 2016
This right here is why I follow your posts, earthquake, flooding and still that wry humor. This title is genius.
November 15th, 2016
@pandorasecho Thank you very much - if I didn't laugh, I'd...probably do something else ;)
@epcello Thank you very much :)
@maggiemae Excellent - I'd hate to think of a good meal being stranded!
@spanner Thank you very much - no more quakes here that I've felt, feeling very sorry for Wellington and further South though!
@julzmaioro It's been like this all day...
@taffy Just regular cows, but I like mine grilled (and there was movie about Jane Goodall and the apes called Gorillas in the Mist, so it seemed to fit...)
November 15th, 2016
Great shot and sense of humor. Was your cell phone one of the afflicted? 🙄🖖
November 15th, 2016
Great shot. Absolutely love the title.
November 15th, 2016
Great shot! Love the fog!
November 15th, 2016
Awesome use of negative space, and a great title. I hope with all the chaos you don't get painted into a corner :)
November 15th, 2016
Where is our summer??? I said "WHERE IS OUR SUMMER" why won't somebody tell me...
November 15th, 2016
Those looks, I bet they are planning something. And it´s sometimes good to have a chance to go through the pics, been doing the same actually but the difference is that we don´t have earthquakes here, ever.
November 15th, 2016
@susale They're definitely up to something...just as well they're food and not politicians ;)
@alinz I know, I know...it's well over due
@karlow75 Thank you very much - I'm away tomorrow for business for a couple of days and I'm tempted to leave the phone behind...
@harbie Thank you very much :)
@sarraphoto Thank you very much :)
@sarasotab Thank you very much - my phone was afflicted far too often this often...
November 15th, 2016
I've been looking at a very similar view, except swap the grilles for alpacas
November 15th, 2016
So many aftershocks still happening - up here south of Auckland we felt the big jolt, but not the aftershocks that you are all still feeling down your way. I love the title.
November 15th, 2016
Love the title. Cows with "earrings" always make me smile.
Hope things calm down soon.
November 15th, 2016
Title made me laugh! A terrific image. That lead cow has the look of mischief in her eyes. I'd watch my back :o
November 15th, 2016
poor cows!
November 15th, 2016
Pretty rare.
November 15th, 2016
Lol! Great title!!
November 15th, 2016
Hope all the after shocks have subsided and the phone stops ringing soon.
November 15th, 2016
@swillinbillyflynn It's the phone that's truly irritating me...
@jesperani Thank you very much :)
@melston Me too...yum yum
@shepherdmanswife They give their lives knowing that I will continue to increase my girth...
@paul10 Thank you very much - I think she may be the ringleader
@humphreyhippo Thank you very much - nothing but the best for any fashion conscious bovine
@dide Thank you - I haven't felt any since yesterday, but today I'm heading further South on business...
@yorkshirekiwi I've never eaten an alpaca... ;)
November 15th, 2016
Looks like they would have been happier to see Dian Fossey. brilliantly titled...
November 15th, 2016
" Cows with Guns " :)
November 15th, 2016
Oh well, after one of these girls tore my dog open like an apple (luckily enough, she has been sewn up by an excellent vet and she,s still with us) I have no mercy on them. Grillers is a very well deserved definition! And a great photo, but you know this already.
November 15th, 2016
Hahaha, so funny, I love that cow, great composition, I can imagine her going forward, closer to you, and you stepping back and sliding in the cow dung.
November 15th, 2016
Ha Ha...............I don't think he wants to be grilled!
November 16th, 2016
@radiogirl There's no choice... ;)
@overalvandaan They all came running over to the fence for a closer look - there ended up being about 20 of them all trying to eyeball me at the same time
@domenicododaro Thank you very much - I've never entirely trusted them until they're on my plate...
@hermann I hope not! :)
@jack4john Thank you very much - I couldn't help myself
November 16th, 2016
A1 play on words mate, love it. I have a friend who used to be an internal security office at the Aust Tax Office. Her mobile phone drove her mad until the day it fell out of her pocket into the toilet. Just a suggestion.
November 16th, 2016
@golftragic I nearly threw mine out of the window yesterday...what's even more disturbing is that it's been suspiciously quiet today...and thank you very much (of course, because my mum raised me proper)
November 16th, 2016
As I can see beyond the first one I deduce you are not in west Wales at the moment!
November 16th, 2016
lovely B&W!!!
November 16th, 2016
Great title; and photo. Sorry about the earthquake chaos but glad you are ok
November 16th, 2016
@rachelwithey Thank you very much :)
@olenadole Thank you very much :)
@yrhenwr If I was in west Wales I would be writing a strongly worded letter to the good people at TomTom...
November 16th, 2016
So, I was trying to describe to someone how comical our banter about alleys was on the fiveplustwo post... and I was like, "Graeme is darkness, that's his thing..." And I clicked on your name and declared, "see!". At which point I realized these were nice cute cows not some sinister black photo... my friend was not impressed with my proof.
I do like this image though. :)
November 16th, 2016
And also the title. That's hilarious.
November 16th, 2016
@ludgate Well, never let it be said that I'm predicitable - and if you think this is "cute" wait until todays shot...but don't panic, normal service will be resumed shortly. I've been travelling so much this month (and I'm not done yet) that it's been difficult to provide my "normal" shots...as for the title, I couldn't help myself :))
November 16th, 2016
hahahahaha - but no - hahahahaha - griller giving you the evil eye - I love a good bbq :)
November 17th, 2016
Great expression and so glad you are OK but sorry re the chaos
November 17th, 2016
