not my normal thing (3)

This is The Gables, an historic house in New Plymouth. It used to be a hospital but has now been given over to an Art Foundation is is used principally as a place to house doilies and crocheted toilet roll covers.
Another historic occasion of note that happened here is that is was the location of some of Mrs. S' and my wedding photographs, many years ago. According to both our parents this was the first time that I had managed to get far enough up her leg to see a garter.
How we laughed.
Lovely old Edwardian house with high gables! Good that someone is taking care of it - probably making antimacassars too!

You old romantic

Doilies? Crocheted stuff? Wedding pictures? TERRIFYING!!! ;)

Quaint! Watch out for treacherous cronies bearing shiny fruit...

the film and old camera are combining to give an old look to your photos. Having recently been going through boxes of old photos - these last few photos certainly have that feel of a very different era. I guess I am really just seeing the evidence of the older technology. I guess we are just very used to digital camera images... Being in the business of "reading" images... I immediately have thought 19 30's/ 40's with these last few you have posted. that being said...depending on what you want to say...its a great addition to your palette.

I should have added I loved the comment about both your parents...

So - general stuff of nightmares then?
It is rather spooky.
January 5th, 2017
This lovely little building of fairy tales must have a spooky cellar (a.k.a "chamber for extraordinary purposes").

The film is very fitting for this old house.
So, the other times she wasn't wearing a garter? :)

@bill_fe I have no idea, it was the first time I'd ever seen her thigh... ;)
@gazdi If it doesn't I shall build one...
@humphreyhippo Terrifying
@hrs Thank you very much - there is something about film, particularly when used in a dirty ancient camera
@monty147 The mother in law was no where near the place...
@juliedduncan I may have screamed...
@theboxmanreturns I know, I know...it's why she puts up with me...
@hermann Thank you very much :)
@alophoto Not since I evicted them for non payment
@maggiemae I dread to think what they do in there...there's probably some macrame going on as well
January 5th, 2017
Neat old photo!
January 6th, 2017
It makes me want to see the inside.
January 6th, 2017
@radiogirl Thank you...it's quite new though, just a very old camera ;)
@teiko It's very "heritage" on the inside once you get past all the grandma's doing their knitting ;)
January 6th, 2017
Like the framing to draw the eye right in
January 6th, 2017
@jgpittenger Thank you very much :)
January 6th, 2017
Really beginning to love your "not normal" captures! Such a lovely vintage feel to them.
January 6th, 2017
Wot, no knitted coat-hangers? Ah well, sounds like the place has other good points. Love the treatment of this olde-worlde shot.
January 6th, 2017
I agree with @Lin , I am enjoying the feel of your last photos :)
January 6th, 2017
@shylaine3304 Thank you kindly - my personal favourite is due for mass release tomorrow...then I'll have to pick up the camera again...
@golftragic Thank you kindly - it wouldn't surprise if they could whip up a few coat hangers at short notice.
@linnypinny Thank you very much :)
January 6th, 2017
Looks like a hunted house, hA!:)
January 6th, 2017
@joemuli Haunted by the elderly I'm afraid...
January 6th, 2017
@graemestevens Oh, that's great, I must get my order in.
January 6th, 2017
Yes, quite.
January 6th, 2017
Interesting use???
January 6th, 2017
Not indeed but I dig it a lot, it´s like a haunted house!
January 6th, 2017
Perfectly framed and beautifully captured to convey an earlier era. Must have been lovely for the wedding photos.
January 6th, 2017
lol, very atmospheric shot of it.
January 6th, 2017
I agree with @susale. There is a ghostly atmosphere to the image. And I like ghostly atmosphere's so that can only be a good thing 👍
January 6th, 2017
@jesperani Thank you very much :)
@taffy Thank you very much - and I honestly can't remember!
@susale It's haunted by elderly ladies who practice the arcane art of harnessing the unworldly power of the fighting needle
@sweetsue53 That one way of putting it...
@scotthouston Indubitably
January 6th, 2017
@paul10 Thank you very much - you should like the "grand finale" to this series that I'll put up later today then...
January 6th, 2017
@graemestevens. Now you've got me all excited!
January 6th, 2017
@paul10 Steady on, this is a family show...
January 6th, 2017
Poor house, it deserves better than doilies & crochet toilet rolls! The garter sounds much more of an exciting topic!
January 6th, 2017
@happypat It still works for me, all these later...much to Mrs. S' dismay
January 7th, 2017
I'm delighted that you've finally pressed Mrs S's present into service and I think that this is the one I loke the best but, search as I may, I can find no trace of stocking top ;-((
January 7th, 2017
@vignouse Neither can I anymore...imaginings are all that I have left...
January 7th, 2017
wonderful atmosphere
January 7th, 2017
Kas
Great images Graeme. This one is my favourite of the 4 - looks like it could so easily be a scene from a Hammer Horror movie.
January 7th, 2017
@wag864 Thanks very much :)
@annied Thank ya ma'am :)
