a day at the beach by graemestevens

a day at the beach

It's been a long day, what with a 3 hour drive at the beginning of it and a 3 hour drive at the end of it as well, and all because we had to go to Waikato Hospital to visit my brother-in-law, a particularly clumsy man who, during his working life as a lorry driver has been known to fall off his truck on 4 separate occasions. On the fourth occasion, on Wednesday of last week, he managed to break his back and now has 6 separate rods "installed" in his spine...so, while he'll have full mobility he will no longer work (at least not in that job) but will no doubt occupy himself with driving the rest of his family up the wall.
The kangaroo on the left looks sad, but the lizard on the right is laughing.good metaphor for your tale.

Dearie me! Your poor brother in law! This is a very dramatic capture - nicely done.
March 17th, 2018
I didn't know you had friends
March 17th, 2018
@joansmor haha Joan ;)
The poor man, that sounds terrible, I hope he recuperates quickly. In the meantime, looks like NZ is in trouble!

@bella_ss I didn't read the description as I was too interested in my coffee

Kas
What a nightmare! Not the pic - but the narrative! Pic is great though! Hope all goes smoothly.

Sorry to hear about your brother-in-laws accident but your picture is a little more cheerer for me as I have never seen such a thing. So very cool. FAV

you must be an easy person to shop for at Christmas...all you need are some plastic dinos to make you happy!
March 17th, 2018
Another creative shot even in the midst of your sorrow - so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. No doubt your were very empathetic at the hospital - kind and comforting?
March 17th, 2018
Another one that looks great on black, so brother in law will be a pain in the neck to all around but also him self. I know bad joke .
March 17th, 2018
Oh not fun for your brother-in-law. But this might be one of my favorite dinosaur photos ever!
March 17th, 2018
Very cool and quite dramatic. Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law's accident.
March 17th, 2018
Ooo they doesn't sound good. Hope he mends quickly and fully. Nice to see you still take your toys to the beach. Great shot 👍👍
March 17th, 2018
Such a ray of sunshine, at least you are consistent :)
March 17th, 2018
@alinz Damn straight. Sometimes.
@paul10 Thanks very much - I'm sure all will be well, I was just the driver yesterday
@salza Thanks very much :)
@hrb73 Not fun at all, but thanks :)
@hobgoblin It's a joke that works though...
@365karly1 To be honest, I didn't go in - I was just the driver (and numbers were limited anyway)
@blueberry1222 That would just about do it...
@cathrinemitch Thank you very much :)
@wag864 Thank you very much - I'm sure the doctors know what they're doing
@joansmor I'm too interested in my coffee as well - besides which, he's family rather than a friend.
@bella_ss I take comfort in him being 3 hours away so that he can't easily drive us insane
@jamibann Thank you very much :)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond The kangaroo on the left probably looks sad because he's a dinosaur as well...
March 17th, 2018
@graemestevens I meant the creatures on the beach
March 17th, 2018
@joansmor Oh them...nah, they just show up...bastards are always following me round.
March 17th, 2018
A great holiday scene.
March 17th, 2018
@haskar Thanks very much :)
March 17th, 2018
@graemestevens sorry for your brother-in-law. Best wishes. And the photo is amazing, Jurassic world reloaded!
March 17th, 2018
I love the dinosaur shot! Shame about the brother in law. Could've been worse tho. Imagine if he was crane operator?
March 17th, 2018
Does your beach always have ominous clouds? Sorry to hear about the accident - it sounds very serious indeed. But pleased that full mobility will return. You are clearly much more compassionate than you like to portray - otherwise you would never have made the visit. The dinosaurs look suspiciously like toys - surely you have some real bones stashed away somewhere in your tool shed?
March 17th, 2018
@helenhall Most of the time my beach does have a serious array of clouds...that's the west coast of NZ for you...
@katrinanz Thanks and yes, you're right...we're still not going to hear the end of it though
@domenicododaro Thank you very much :)
March 17th, 2018
Funny story. Or not. Love the creatures on the beach!
March 17th, 2018
Wow a kangasaurus!!!
March 17th, 2018
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Why not...
@joysfocus Thanks very much :)
March 18th, 2018
Opens up a whole new field of evolutionary science. You do find such extraordinary things. Hope your bil recovers ok.
March 18th, 2018
@golftragic A walk with me will always be interesting...
March 18th, 2018
Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Hope he recovers quickly and without driving the rest of the family up the wall.
Fabulous Jurassic scene. Works well in b&w.
March 18th, 2018
@graemestevens Why am I not surprised by that?
March 18th, 2018
very fun! I'm still laughing. Better than the nightmare one before.
March 18th, 2018
@trinda Thanks very much :)
@littleconnie Thank you very much :)
March 18th, 2018
Hope your brother-in-law recovers quickly, so you can give him a kick up his backside for making you drive all the way to that hospital and back. At least you still made it to the beach afterwards, to capture the dinosaur fight !
March 18th, 2018
@bintal There's always an upside...
March 18th, 2018
they are great!
March 19th, 2018
@olenadole Thanks very much :)
