I don't have dog days any more, not since Lucy & Wiz passed last year. I'm such a "dog person" that when I'm out for walks I often don't feel "anchored". It's a difficult feeling to describe, after having had the honour of being allowed to live with hounds for so long, to not have them at the moment. Dog days indeed.

So sorry to hear about both your dogs Graeme, life is not as good without a dog. We are dog less too & it's strange. Doubt we will get another now, but something missing on a walk. Love the footprints in the sand.

I totally relate to your narrative. And as summer and Beaver Island time gets here, the lack of a dog feels like I'm missing part of my identity. A poignant image.
