huatoki

Taken at the mouth of the Huatoki Stream, this is probably a 30 second walk from what passes for New Plymouth's "city" centre.
Huatoki can be translated a few ways: It could mean "plenty of adzes" or it could be a corruption of the titoki trees that line the stream. It could also mean "plenty of worms" and given that the stream is heaving with eel I lean toward that. There's only one sea gull though...
so much spray captured here - very dynamic feel to the sea here

The gull is probably ticked that you've invaded his beach, so tread lightly.
