We're still in Prague - it's a genuinely beautiful city but the sheer volume of people is mind-blowing. No nobody told me that ALL of the people would be there. Every single one of them.
Thank you all so much for your comments on yesterdays image - it's always appreciated and you're all quite wonderful.
I already have so many images from this trip and so little time to process that it should keep me busy and you bored for quite some time.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
What a great shot .. just scanning the crowd .. got friends in Prague at the moment .. Why is the man in the foreground looking at you with that look.. have you got your gas mask on..
Thanks all. It is a truly beautiful although full to overflowing at this time of the year...and I ended up a bit paranoid after taking this, what with all that staring and such like...
The detail here is amazing..you can almost count everyone’s wrinkles one by one! Everyone from NZ finds places crowded that’s my opinion anyway....you have so much space...my family think it’s so busy everywhere when they travel!
I know exactly what you mean about OP, especially in places like this. How dare they??? So inconsiderate, and so there in hordes. I do like my open spaces.
Great processing. Unfortunately we are getting used to hyper tourism as they call it. Venice is a fantastic city but only between november and february, bceauseof the crowds destroying all the charme. But...we are part of those crowds so no reason to complain. Something should be done, though, like limiting the number of people allowed on any given day.Of course, on the other side is the interest of the people living on tourism. Praga years ago was very poor and now is becoming rich. Another problem is that the inhabitants are leaving to rent their homes to tourists, B&B, Airbnb etc. And the cities become like Disneyland Sorry for the long blabla but it's a subject very dear to me.
@bkbinthecity Thanks very much :) @rosiekerr Thank you kindly :) @rjb71 Thanks very much :) @caddick Thank you very much :) @caterina I agree on all points...and yet here I am, contributing to it ;)
@caterina I was very interested in your comment Caterina. The same thing is happening here in some places, albeit on a much smaller scale than poor Venice which is sinking under the pressure. I always wanted to see the city, but definitely off my bucket list now, I absolutely loathe crowds. Some places on the coast not too far from where I live are groaning under the weight of tourists, buses full of them, plus cars full, mostly from Asia. We've had a number of very serious road accidents,including some fatalities, caused by said tourists driving on the 'wrong' side of the roads (we drive on the left) and not being able to read the various road-signs re stopping, giving way at intersections etc. And far too many ignore all the signs (English and Cantonese) re dangerous cliffs which may crumble (gotta have that selfie), beaches with lethal rips etc, etc. Two lifesavers were drowned rescuing a tourist (who survived) who'd gone into a well-marked very dangerous stretch of surf.
@golftragic@caterina
It happens in New Zealand as well, also with fatalities on the roads and people dying on our mountains through sheer stupidity and just not taking the risks seriously. Some tourists have been rescued off of our mountains after becoming undone and they are only wearing sandals and shorts...but I think that what irritates me the most in a lot of "high density" tourist areas is the basic loss of human decency and basic manners that 90% of these people seem to suffer, so while I'm contributing to the crowd I'm at least being polite and well mannered about it.

Thanks all - it really is a fantastic city to visit, we're just smack in the middle of peak season!
