pungarehu

This is the Cape Egmont lighthouse at Pungarehu, which is about a 20 minute drive "around the coast" from home. We used to live a short walk from here when Mrs S and I first shacked up together in our den of inequity.

A literal translation of Pungarehu is "coal ash" or "ash bowl"...probably because it will be one of the first hit should Mount Taranaki, which can't be seen today because of the cloud, go "pop" again.

I haven't had much time for photography lately due to redecorating our home, so apologies for not being around much...but I'm sure you'll all make it through.
fabulousness. Hope the reno is going to plan

I'm sure you will appreciate the creation of redecoration as much as the creation of a good photograph, whatever the subject!

Ugh, DIY!! Poor you and Mrs S. However this is rather sumptious

Very nice...

Don’t know if this was taken as a stitched panorama, or not, but it does give that feeling of a very wide expansive view of the whole area, and the sky is quite impressive.

@gardencat It wasn't...just cropped, but I did like the sky :)
@lsquared Thank you very much :)
@awendes Thank you very much :)
@lyndamcg Thank you kindly :)

@hobgoblin I'm so sorry, I'll try harder.
@vignouse I love it when people say "a real photo" to me...it's like I've never used a camera before. As for "inequity"...it's a fun one but it really only works on paper ;)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I quite enjoy painting....sad but true ;)
@maggiemae Then again, I may not enjoy it...
@brigette Do they ever? And thank you :)

Love those clouds and lighthouse in B&W capture. FAV

This reminds me of Oregon lighthouses. Like it in B and W...but of course you are master of that. Glad to hear you and Mrs S have moved from den of iniquity

Great capture

Mmmm, a den of iniquity reminds me of hellfire, brimstone (whatever that is) and all that kinda stuff. Maybe not the best place to linger?? I rather like the shot nevertheless.

Appallingly beautiful, as you are wont to say. Fave!

Great composition and sky.

Me either, but it seems to appear in the Bible from time to time if my memory is accurate.

Looks straight out of the new black and white film, The Lighthouse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lighthouse_(2019_film)
I saw it in the theaters...really weird film, but weird in a good way.
