Surprise

When I planted this dianthus the little card in the pot said it was an annual so I expected it to last the season and then die! This is the third year it has bloomed and I was very surprised to see it blossoming in January! For all my friends who still have snow on the ground here is a promise of spring for you!
You must have a green hand!! So pretty....and every year too!

@espyetta They seem to thrive on neglect!

@grammyn lol. I could even raise those!

now that's my type of plant ...

You must have received one of the bonus cards :)
January 29th, 2013
@lesip I don't put a lot of effort into it so maybe that is what they need!
January 29th, 2013
Beautiful! My guess is that it would be an annual here... even for someone who has a greener thumb than mine! :)
January 29th, 2013
@digitalrn I'm just going to enjoy it as long as it lasts!
January 29th, 2013
@marilyn Thanks! I have thought of that but they are in the ground and we do have freezing weather here every winter!

What part of the country are you in. An annual in some areas is a perennial in others.
January 29th, 2013
@jwlynn64 I live in Alabama and usually the plants we get are tagged for this part of the country! I'm not complaining! Maybe I just got lucky! ;~}

I know that dianthus...es... don't last the winter here (Dallas)? Maybe you are closer to sea level than we are. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Beautiful--and so neat it keeps coming back!
January 29th, 2013
@grammyn Really!? Freezing weather?! What you have are a few frosts... what we have is freezing weather, as in extended periods of temps in the teens, single digits and/or below zero... the kind of weather that kills nearly any living thing! :) I remember Marisa saying that you cleaned the frost off your window with the garden hose... if we did that we would have a shattered windshield... with lots of ice still on it! :)

This is great Katy! What a great surprise! I was a little confused earlier because you changed your profile pic on me ! I thought it was YOU but then I saw your old picture on someone else comment, so I thought it was someone else! Now I see the other picture of you in your albumn!, lol! Quit trying to confuse me Lady! Lol:)

fav beautiful flower and such a radiant colour red
January 29th, 2013
@marilyn LOL! yes it does get below freezing! Not for weeks but I think even one night would be enough to damage plants! Our temps often get below freezing during the winter! I am not claiming to have anything near what you suffer through though. I am grateful we don't! ;~}
January 29th, 2013
@kbalychev Thanks, Kimberly! It means a lot to me that you like it!
January 29th, 2013

Hubby is miserable, coughing and his chest is really hurting, but eating a little bit and fever is down a bit. He always makes our breakfasts and dinners as he loves to be in the kitchen and is a great cook. Off to make something for me to eat for dinner. Thank you for asking.
