Memories of Christmas Past by grammyn

Memories of Christmas Past

Definitely not a high fashion tree but every year when I put it up there are lots of memories attached to the ornaments. Many of them were made by my mother and this is my first Christmas without her so I cherish those even more this year.
I know how that feels. Beautiful tree! I miss putting mine up but since we travel to the family in western NY state now, it's too much trouble. I think your tree looks better than a high-fashion tree too!

I think these trees are the best. Mine will look just like yours and I love it.

fabulously lovely, especially that there's a lot of meaning to the whole thing. i will have to bring my Christmas tree to goodwill or salvation army as i have not used it since the grands couldn't spend part of the holidays with me. even more so now. i will keep the ornaments that have meaning though. maybe someday i would have somewhere to hang them.

Awww...hugs to you, my friend! I know how hard that is with out your mom. I see a lot of angels on this gorgeous tree! I have a small Cornhusk doll angel ornament. Mom and I bought it when we were up in the hills of KY for her mom's funeral...we got it at this craft shop attached to the cafe where we ate in making/ Whitesburg. (Her hometown) I always smile and feel very sad too....when I see that angel. Or the golden peanut ...we got two of those on our Great Dismal Swamp/Norfolk VA trip....sigh. I miss her. Hope you are doing well!

I love your tree full of precious memories! Much better than a high fashion tree! I put my tree up last night and was laughing with my sister as the lights are so old - yes they were my mum's tree lights! They always make me think of her putting them on the tree and laughing because they never lit first time and we had to screw the bulbs to check on loose ones. It's funny the things that bring back memories of loved ones! Always hard at Christmas time! Big hug!

My sentiment exactly. No special tree here either but it is full of memories and each year it grows more special

It's a beautiful tree and this first holiday season without our mothers isn't easy!

starting to get in the spirit of this... I like the pink glower and the mirror is a wonderful touch for the sentiment.

Like your composition. And I like that it's just the tree and reflection and shadows, not a lot else to interfere. I'm sure you have wonderful memories, and those ornaments help. Fav

I love your classic tree - and especially your composition with the reflection. Christmas is always a difficult time - as are all other special days. It's always then that one misses those that have left us the most. Hugs.

@summerfield Thanks, girlfriend! Just get a little tree and put it up! I find having it up gives me a sense of the wonder and happiness of Christmas! There is something about the lights inside that creates a feeling of peace for me!

@barbtatum Thanks Barb! I imagine it will be tough for you since you lost yours so recently. I have had a little time to adjust to the idea.

@francoise I really appreciate those kind words, Francoise! I am trying to figure out where the pink came from unless it is a reflection of the lights. The wall is gray!

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. It is lovely when there are memorable items to share and consider when we lose someone dear especially during holidays. Your tree is beautiful.

@kandkids thank you so much, Karen! It is nice to have those tangible reminders of how much I was loved!

Love the composition... surprise!😯 And the tree. I sort of have a "fashion" tree in that all the ornaments are the same... little snowmen that Mom made for me... complete with hand-knitted hats and scarves!😥

@marilyn ♥ Thanks! Many of my ornaments are mom made but there is a variety to them.
