My mother was an inveterate sewer moving from projects for 4 children to 11 grandchildren to 18 great grandchildand and eventually to sewing for nursing homes and various other charities. She passed away a year ago today. I used some of the thread I inherited from her sewing room to make today what you see here. Two skirts, one pair of shorts, two pair of pants, (trousers MM) and three dresses all to be sent to the orphanage I volunteered at in October last year. I couldn't think of a better way to honor my mother's memory than to sew for charity today.
and i'm pretty sure she is looking at you from wherever she is, feeling so proud of your tribute. she wouldn't have it any other way, for sure. these are lovely!
@vstap Thanks so much for your kind supportive words. It WAS a labor of love. @olivetreeann You are always so gracious Ann. Thanks for that. I really appreciate it. @myhrhelper Thank you Kathy! It means a lot to me that you think so.
Oh Katy, this brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful way to remember your mother! My mother sewed and knitted for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, too. One day, when she was about 90, she called me in tears that she couldn't follow the knitting pattern any more.
@eudora Thanks Diane. That sounds like my mother but I am actually grateful she died before she reached that point. It was almost a month before her 90th when she passed away.
