You "WOOD BEE" Safe Around Him

"Male carpenter bees are quite aggressive, often hovering in front of people who are around the nests. The males are quite harmless, however, since they lack stingers. Female carpenter bees can inflict a painful sting but seldom will unless they are handled or molested."
Good night Dad.♥

But, boy can they destroy a log cabin! Great shot!

Nice details and close-up. These little ones are crafty for sure and will cause you grief if they get into your wood.

Amazing macro!

Excellent macro shot! I didn't know that the male carpenter bees lacked stingers. I probably wasted a lot of time avoiding them--but who knows what gender they were!

@dawnee @homeschoolmom @sarasotab @juliedduncan @mikegifford @dyanstevens @ruthmouch @maggiemae @natashajhill @linnypinny @paulavdmerwe @eudora @vstap @olivetreeann @daisyditch @summerfield @kandkids @dishaparekh176 @kwiksilver Thank you so much for all your nice comments. They can wreak havoc on wood but my house is mostly brick so I am not as concerned as I might be. I often see what I assume is the male almost hovering in front of me. They are really quite large but have never threatened me, I am so glad you like this one and thanks so much for the FAVS.

@summerfield LOL! Let me know when you find out because I was wondering too. I think there is a sting involved somewhere!
April 20th, 2016
@grammyn More than welcome!

examining this allegedly molested bee, looks like it's wearing a helmet, or it might be a robot bee. :-) still browsing through law books for molestation of bees.
