Garden Ornament? No! by grammyn

Garden Ornament? No!

Working in my yard today brought me almost closer than I wanted to be to this. It is very unusual for a snake to stay still when he can easily escape your presence. This one didn't move from the time I first saw him until way after I bolted into the house for my camera and returned to take several shots of him at various angles. Just a common garter snake that soon took offonce I started weeding again.
Safer than the rattlers we grew up with dad♥
It seems odd to FAV something I can barely stand to look at but this is an amazing close-up. Too close.

Lovely little snakey! A bit annoyed, though, by the look in his eye! ;)

Cute little guy. Too bad he didn't smile for the camera.

Too bad you weren't a photo junkie when we were kids and practically stuck our faces on the face of that baby rattlesnake down below Ima Jean's! This is a fabulous shot... Great colors and composition and details!

Really good shot, Katy! I can't believe he waited for you to go get your camera--glad he did!

It could be a snake that is only 1 inch long and I would still quickly set off in the opposite direction! I am deathly afraid of them! I looked at your shot for about 5 seconds. I'm sure it's good, but I'm moving on!
