That is me! I am one of twelve people on the planet that likes fruitcake. I am blessed to have a good friend who makes them every year and she gifted me with two of them this year! This is a small piece of the second one. The first one is gone already!
And you found one more who likes it - me! I didn't have one this season because my October friends usually bring it during their long weekend visit. One year Tam brought fruitcake jelly - it was wonderful!
Love the way it is displayed in the crystal dish. I like it if made like Mom and Grandma made for me. My version had dried apricots, dried cherries and walnuts - NO citron.
@mcsiegle I feel it is one of those things that you either love or hate generally speaking @dutchothotmailcom oh, I have been! Thanks Esther @linnypinny Ya I have never heard of fruitcake jelly! That sounds intriguing @shutterbug49 Thank you Debbie. Your recipe sound interesting but I like the citron . I wouldn't mind trying your kind though @ludwigsdiana thanks Diana and I know that is true! @taffy glad I could make you laugh! I know I am in the minority! @amyk I appreciate that Amy I feel there may be more of us than the media proclaims! @ricksnap loved your terse response! I take it you are NOT one of the twelve! @30pics4jackiesdiamond AS I was reading about it I saw in Britain it is often frosted. I have never heard of that before! @lesip now THAT is a smart woman! I never have any left to freeze~!
@randystreat I think the fruitcake has made me gain some weight but I think that’s to be expected at Christmas time. I have made fruitcake cookies before too but no one likes those either, except me. Too bad we can’t get together and share. Maybe sometime soon.
I don't mind it, but I confess if there's something with chocolate on the table next to it, I'll eat the chocolate first. (o: Enjoy your cake- looks like in your house you're allowed to have your cake and eat it too!
