The Creek Indians have a casino not too far from where we live. They are credited with being the "creek" in the phrase"God willin' and the Creek don't rise" In reference to them not rising against the settlers.
Ya'll gamblin' ya'll's money away? (Like my southern accent there? ) And I did finally learn that the Creek did not mean a water way,b ut the Natives....that seems way more likely!
Cool I have heard and said the phrase often over the years but didn't know that it actually referred to the Creek Indians . Always thought it was a body of water.. So I learned something today?
