Dove & Petunia

It's just too fascinating to not watch when the doves are right here, literally less than two-feet away from our balcony door. The routine seems to be that during the change of which one is sitting on the nest, the returning dove will land on the other side of the balcony and perch there. Then the dove will gradually step closer until getting to the nest to relieve its partner. This seems to take up to an hour.
How fascinating to watch the daily rhythms

@haskar @bkbinthecity @fbailey @kipper1951 @joansmor @jgpittenger @seattlite thanks for commenting on the dove; glad the light worked. Nice to do "wild life" from the comfort of home or I'd never have the patience! lol! The babes have flown away; we actually got to see them take off. I'd had my camera on the ready to see flight for so long that the battery went dead before takeoff! Ah well. Now we'll see if the nest gets used again.

sounds like the swap of duty is quite a performance. the lighting is lovely - bringing out the clear outline of the bird.
