Tulip - In the Corner by granagringa

Tulip - In the Corner

alternate title...Tulip posing as Statue of Liberty lol.

I've been trying to place this one and yesterday's further away from the camera, but then wind up with too much negative space and the cropping changes the relative size of the flower in the frame. Any suggestions on how to get the sense of distance and smallness but not overwhelm the frame with negative space? Thanks...You can see the original in my "others" album.
I have to fav this one. You have been working so hard on this series, so I suppose you have tried getting the negative space right in camera by zooming or moving around.

Super light and love the composition.. the vase looks interesting too..
sorry i cannot help with the 'problem' :-(
following you is very enlightening and interesting too.. on looking at your month view one can see the changes in your thinking/composition.. it is all becoming much more fluid, more graceful..
i like where this is taking you and look forward to seeing more unfold as the month progresses....

Stunning.

This is gorgeous, with a very artistic feel. It's hard to say how a different framing could be improved, would you be willing to post one of the ones you felt had too much negative space for reference?

A lovely composition!

@ethelperry Thanks, Ethel; I am always honored with your comments and also favs...Thank you...As to the negative space; I have moved around and zoomed in and out, etc...I think I'll have to do research, but I'm thinking the negative space will have to have something in it, even if it is blurred by DoF. Anyway, thanks for sticking with me...

@jorlam Thanks always for your such thoughtful comments...the vase, by the way, is a plastic, collapsible vase. It is fairly odd, but great for us, as we move so often!!!

It is so nice to read your words about how and where you see my photography going on this project. And I, too, look forward to see where it will go...I have some ideas perculating; hopefully, I can fill out the month (and think of something other than tulips to shoot!!!)

Wonderfully composed, captured

I think I prefer the other one uncropped.

that's great. Love the composition and lightning. The tulip makes this amazing "move" to the left. That fits really good.

Beautiful use of the light... I think you've managed the balance between subject and space quite nicely here!

@photographycrazy @ricaa @northy Thank you all so much for commenting and letting me know what you think of this.

@farmreporter It's been so interesting to see the reactions and preferences to two shots that differ only in the negative space. I'm with you actually, and think the uncropped one evokes more of the moodiness that I was trying for. But I second guessed myself and posted this one instead. Then the other was posted anyway. Thanks for telling me your reaction.
