1976 Pentax 6x7 (MU) Medium Format SLR

I finally got my hands on one of my all-time favorite medium format cameras, the Pentax 6x7. This one is the "Mirror Up" version which includes a switch for locking the HUGE mirror up before shooting to reduce camera shake (though it's pretty hard to "shake" more than 5 pounds of brass and glass)! I get 10 huge 6x7 centimeter negatives on each roll of 120 film, or 20 shots on 220 film.

I have a "landscape" lens on the way as well, so hopefully you will see a lot more of this beast in the future!

*Pictured here with his little sister, Spotmatic (which is a regular-sized SLR; tiny when compared to the 6x7).

**That wooden handle is a hand grip/accessory shoe, which I've found is a lifesaver! :)

I like that wooden handle...happy for you that you got one of your all time favorite cameras. Your collection is growing!

You're as addicted to collecting cameras as Jay Leno is to collecting cars. Boys and their toys!

@lisabell It used to be women, but that got waaaay too expensive! LOL

Wow...you are purest, aren't you? I admire that....takes much more patience, skill and dedication. Are you going to use them all...or display them? My guess is you will be using them.

@grizzlysghost Lol! You're just picking the wrong women!

It looks like a beauty

@eyesmile Oh, I definitely use them all! Cameras weren't made to just be put on display :)

I collect them too, but no longer use them. I knew a guy who used this as his everyday camera, but it didn't have that huge grip. Cool machine.

Congrats! This is a powerful looking camera -- can't wait to see the results.

@bankmann
it makes me sad that the age of things made sturdy enough to last for years has passed, we are now passing through what I like to call, 'the age of short-lived shit.' or ASS

@bankmann @chewyteeth Haha Dave, exactly!
