Avalanche Vignette

photo 231
Hiked in to Avalanche Lake today; great day for it!

Vignetting courtesy of a polarizing filter stacked onto my UV. Note to self; either don't stack, or don't shoot wide-angle while stacked. :)

The colours are great. I have one filter of those, I don't recomend you to use on portraits, te sky looks awesome, but on the face...arg, doesn't like.
And framing looks great xDD It's like you have edited the shot xD
Great view :)

@petaqui Thanks Petaqui! Good advice on not using the polarizer on faces, I will make sure to avoid that :)
posted June 16th, 2012
@shanne Thanks Shanne! I rarely use the polarizer, but the sky was just washing out so I had to screw it on!

The clouds look as if they are floating -well of course they are! But it's like 3D

That polariser has worked a treat on the sky. I'm a great stacker...I'll stack anything I can lay my hands on to cut the light down.

Very nice shot. I probably would have noticed the vignette eventually, but didn't notice it at first until I started reading your story.
posted June 16th, 2012
@webfoot Thanks Paul! I noticed it right away while editing my photos; and once I saw it the first time my eye is drawn to it now :)

Wow, I would love to hike in that area. Great shot. I gave up on polarizers altogether.... when shooting wide angle the difference in colour from one side to the other was too big. Nice, deep blue sky on one side and light blue on the other.

@carolmw Thanks Carol!
@helstor Thanks Helge, it's a great area for hiking! I am still learning how to best use my polarizer; I may come to the same conclusion but for now I need to test it out! :)

Stacking can be issue. I find I lose about 1 degree if I bring lenses in. Beautifully dramatic clouds and scene

Wonderful view... if the shade bothers you (it doesn't bother me, I quite like it) crop it a bit? Worth that bit of shadow for the extra effect.
posted June 17th, 2012
@sailingmusic Thanks Myrna!
@filsie65 I am not too bothered by it either, but that's what I will do with photos that it doesn't work with :)

Aaron I get that Vignetting too when my wide angle is zoomed all the way. So when I see I just cut back a hair. I find it annoying when that happens but is it supposed to do that?
posted June 20th, 2012
@michaelelliott I think it does on some lenses. Mine is usually just barely noticeable but since I stacked the filters it is pretty pronounced in this shot!
