Cornered

Penned in by streets and powerlines, this beautiful tree has nowhere to go but up!

Donna's my Get Pushed Thirteen challenge partner, and she challenged me "to use light (and/or shadow) in an unexpected or atypical fashion, or to utilize natural framing in your composition."

The part of her challenge concerning use of light got me thinking I should delve into the world of Digital Infrared. So I researched how to modify a digital camera, bought an old clunker on ebay for $50.00, stripped it down, built it back up, and took some shots!

Thanks Donna for pushing me in this direction, I think I will really enjoy seeing what I can do with Infrared!

October 19th, 2012
this is spectacular! fav!! but how on earth did you just: "researched how to modify a digital camera, bought an old clunker on ebay for $50.00, stripped it down, built it back up, and took some shots" in the space of a few days??? this would take me weeks to pull off, and even then, no way i could come up with that type of quality shot if i tried for months - let alone my first time out!

@northy Haha, thanks Northy! I had purchased the camera a couple of weeks ago with the intent of converting it, but needed the push so I would get around to it (it might still be collecting dust on my shelf). IR does need a lot of processing though, and my skills are painfully slow but I finally got it to an image I really like :)
