Where's The Fire?

A pretty plug.
Very nice. I went through a stage where I had to photograph every fire hydrant I saw - LOL!

I do like the bright colors they use.

I thought they were always red! Maybe changed to yellow to discourage dogs?

Nice one!!! I thought they were usually red? This is a great bright yellow!

And why is it not red?

@smithak No idea :) I think all of the fire plugs around here are this color.

@grizzlysghost interesting. I have never seen a yellow one before. It is pretty bright and nice color though.

I know the colors of the tops of the hydrants have something to do with water pressure. A firefighter friend just told me this recently. Here's an interesting link that's from earlier this year: http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2013/01/fire-hydrant-colors-actually-mean-something/

We seem to have a lot of hydrants around here in Dallas Cowboys blue & silver. Coincidence?? :)

Such a fun shot. Great colour.

Surely put up be men, since only they suffer from the green and red colour blindness, this explaines the yellow and blue. Great find Aaron

@doyouseewhatisee Well there you go! "fire hydrants using public water supply systems should be painted chrome yellow, and their tops and caps should indicate the available GPM. 1500 GPM or more should be blue." So this hydrant is connected to public supply and can pump at least 1500 Gallons Per Minute! :)

@grizzlysghost Oh is it that simple, I should have thought of that in the first place. But since we have our hydrants below ground , just a metal lit in the pavement with a sign on the house referring to it, my lack of knowledge is excused:)
