Setup. Below are some links to some setup shots, but here is a basic description. This particular image is a dandelion seed with a drop of water (not glycerin) balanced on it; which turned out to be the most challenging part! The colored bokeh flares are from a string of miniature christmas lights I'm holding in one hand while I hit the shutter with my other hand. As the images below attest, I resorted to "planting" a series of seeds into modeling clay so I could find better success in balancing the water drop. Prior to this, I had tried several while still attached to the dandelion head, but success with that eluded me. So, I carefully plucked the seeds with tweezers and planted them into a piece of clay; then tried a drop on each one of them until I was successful. Once you've achieved that, the rest is just up to your imagination! As a side, I always have a lump of clay with me because it makes a great brace when taking macros, especially helpful in the wind, or if you want to secure something underwater, etc. Clay... who knew? :) Here's some setup shots:

Fav not just for the setup & links but because it is truly lovely - I usually carry "blu-tack" in my kit for similar reasons & a diabetic syringe 'cos it's so handy!
