Stopping Time by grizzlysghost

Stopping Time

The lake was windy and choppy, good conditions to try my new 10-stop ND filter.
The figure sat nice and still for 30 seconds! it sure evened out the chop on the late.

Did you buy a Lee big stopper or a cheaper version? I want one and can't decide what to go for. Wonderful shot.

@shepherdmanswife Thanks! I picked up a 6-stop and a 10-stop by backing a Kickstarter campaign; very high quality brass and glass :) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/breakthrough/x-series-traction-filters/description

I think you can pre-order here: http://breakthrough.photography

Aaron, I have been contemplating buying a 6 or 10 stop filter. I just can't decide if I have to pay the high price for a Big Stopper or if I get a less expensive filter will the quality of my photos be noticeably poorer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Fav!

@thirdjoe Thanks Joe! I'd been looking for one for a while too, and when I found a great product on Kickstarter I decided to get in on the ground floor. I've found that when I use ND filters, I intend to create a longer exposure shot. As a result, the sensor is active for a longer period of time, and if you have a low-quality glass filter it will show in the final result. Up until I got this filter, I had been using welding glass glued to an old UV filter of mine, and let me tell you, the images really picked up the bad quality of the glass. I've only had this one for a couple of days, but so far I'm very pleased. So, long story short, save up and get the best one you can find :) http://breakthrough.photography/product/x3-neutral-density-filter/

Aaron, I just looked at your web site for the first time. You have some very eye catching images that are stunning! I wish you the best of luck with your business.

I looked at the site using the link you provided. It confused me, I wasn't sure if I am paying money (backer on the site) is that money going toward my purchase or is it just used to fund the business and I would purchase the product at a later date? Maybe I need to read it again. Thanks again for the information.

@thirdjoe Sorry for the confusion Joe, the product has already been funded and is in production. The site is where you can order one of your own, and I believe they begin shipping to the public on 20 April.
