One of 172, 20-second exposures I used to stitch together a star-trail photo. I was amazed when this cut across the sky, and the line remained in the sky for a while! Just brilliant :)
I am now selling some of my prints!

@shannew Haha, it's funny you mentioned planes! I had to stop at 172 because 173 had a plane cutting right through it! I couldn't pause the shooting to let the plane pass because that would have created a gap in the star trails :)
Just bought an Aputure timer remote off Amazon which is great, set up the time you want between each shot and away you go .... means you can go get a beer while it's doing it's stuff ;-)
@nikkic I definitely was Nikki, I just stared at the sky in wonder! I saw about 20 tonight, and those things ZOOM across the sky! @markyl Thanks Mark, I am always amazed as well; I hope I never grow out of that :)
hey Aaron... while the other shot (the one where you stacked all the images) is cool for the time, effort and technical prowess, i have to say that i LOVE this one just for "being" ... fav!
@paulien Thanks Paulien! :) @norikohaizumi Thanks Noriko! Too bad about the rain, but the next meteor shower is 20 Oct, hopefully it will be nice for you! @carolmw Thanks so much Carol!
@newbie Thank you Stacey :) @rockinrobyn Thank you so much Robyn! :) @obiwan Thanks Jobi! :) @petaqui Thanks Petaqui! My eyes just about popped out when I saw it cut across the sky! I saw about 20 last night, but this one was just amazing!
@mgirard Thanks Michael! Much of this shot was luck; especially the weather and the fact the meteor centered itself in my frame :) @kwind Thanks! @northy Haha, thank you so much Northy! :)
@juliakan Thanks Julia! I can't believe it either! :) @ulpiphotos Thank you Ulpi! @tigerdreamer Thank you Karen! While I do have certain struggles living out here in the middle of the woods, there are certainly some perks too :) @webfoot Thanks Paul! They were moving Left to Right (North to South) for the most part; though I did see a couple move West to East :)
@grizzlysghost and you don't know what is it?Maybe watching the original size could give you an idea if it's a star, UFO...or maybe a pig flying as in the Simpsons xDDD
Three photos on pp. Magic monkeys are going to ban you next week. Better lay low. Lol. Just joking. All three tremendous shots in their own way! Congrats!
@cjphoto Haha, thanks Chris, I had no idea! :) @beckys Thanks Becky! @rockinrobyn Haha, I wish you WERE joking Robyn, but you know how this works; I will be in timeout for a while :) Thanks!
wow...I did the math 57 and 1/3 minutes in shutter time...glad it's august in North America for you and not freezing cold! I loved your stitched assembly and I love just seeing the shooting star on its own. Lovely! Don't know that I'd have the patience.
@lynnb Thanks so much Lynn! I hadn't done the actual math; I just knew I stood out there for an hour! :) @calm Thanks Cathy! I definitely count myself very lucky! :)
Wonderful sight!
On Friday night we were in a hotel overlooking the sea towards Wales... the sky was even clearer than here in the countryside and the stars were great. I saw one shooting star and went to bed looking forward to Saturday. Yup you've guessed it - thick clouds and the loudest thunderstorm I'd ever heard!! Really glad you got this :)
@filuto Thank you Jorge! @maina Thanks Maina! It was an amazing experience just to see them, catching them on film was a huge bonus! @filsie65 Wow, I sure hope it clears up for you Phil!
Both of your startrails and meteor hit the pp congrats! Well done! I forgot all about the meteor shower and now am kicking my hiney for missing out on the opportunity!
(where I am, I'd just got lots and lots of planes criss-crossing)
@peterdegraaff Haha, thanks Peter; I left that one open! :)
@maggiemae Bummer MaggieMae; hoping it will clear up for you!
@markyl Thanks Mark, I am always amazed as well; I hope I never grow out of that :)
