Socks was chasing around all of her toys after I extracted them from beneath the refrigerator. I set up a quick bare flash on a chair, hooked up my junky 75-300 telephoto lens that I never use, sat on my couch, and waited for the right moment to strike.
This wasn't cropped at all. I found that, as I sharpened it, it became more and more painterly (for lack of a better word), which I really, really liked (and would have liked to do the same to my Classy Cat shot). I'm sure it has something to do with the focal length (170mm), but since I don't shoot with that lens very often, I can't say for sure.
Maybe I'll give it another shot, but the focus is slower than some clever analogy that I can't think of at this particular moment.
She's waiting for that object to move, isn't she? I have always thought that being a cat = being on hallucinogens for your whole life...just my theory, but I see it substantiated time-and-again. :-) She's adorable, great lighting on this shot
