Oude Varkenmarkt

11.08 am: I visited the National Museum of Antiquities this morning again with my youngest child. She was hungry afterwards so we went to the nearest bakery, in a neighbourhood I don't visit that often. There I happened upon these houses. The sign on the right says "Carriage and Coach Maker's". According to Google the house dates from the early 1900s and it houses a small museum about the subject.
Everything about this shot is just perfect - the low angle, the colours, detail - VERY nice.

Charming! Love the play of the shadows. :)

I like the angle, too. The way the buidlings appear to be falling back is interesting

What beautiful buildings, the doors on the left hand one are especially fabulous. Great long shadows. This is just a wonderful shot!

What are the shadows on the building? First I thought a gate, then I thought trees, then I thought the wires from cable cars. I love the shadows, but also the feel of the photo. Really quaint.

@5unflow3r Those are tree shadows!

@shantwin I really loved the doors on the left as well, with the light falling on them :)

@celticmystyc Thank you! There's a lot to see but I didn't want to leave anything out...

@gijsje Ik moet helaas werken vandaag!

@caatjeg @naomi Thank you!

@smapp I tilted the camera a little bit to get this effect.

@elisabeth I agree that the shadows give it something extra.

@oneinodd Thanks for the feedback and the fav! :)

Wat is Leiden toch mooi!

Love it. Even though the red doors and the bicycles draw the eye...those 3 arched window doors on the left are fabulous.

Great shot. The lighting really helps set the mood and tone in this one.

@catheniale I might take a detail shot of them later in my project :)

@wietpruim the light was really beautiful that day and I agree it adds to the shot.

Love this picture, my grandfather visited the Netherlands back in the 60's and took store front pictures to bring back to the historical society in Pella Iowa (a dutch settlement) The town then transformed their old buildings to reflect it. So anyhow seeing pictures makes me think of him :)

@staciehighland Thanks for sharing that. I googled Pella Iowa just now and it looks amazingly Dutch! Do you remember where your grandfather visited?

@staciehighland I'm very curious so I wanted to know what it looked like. We've got several of those windmills over here in Leiden :)
