11.17 pm: Anyone who has ever been anywhere in the Netherlands will have noticed that the Dutch are a bicycle riding people. This is one of the bicycle parks near our central railway station (partly seen in the background - also known as the Starship Enterprise). Even at this time of night it is filled to the brim with bikes. Please enlarge the image to see more details.
I took this shot on my way home from work. I had a relatively early night which was very welcome after last Thursday's war of attrition.
I did go to Amsterdam for about 8 hrs on my way to Austria. It was Christmas day, and it was sooo cold, and there were bicycles everywhere! We went for a boat ride on the canal and bikes lined it everywhere, leaning against metal bars that kept people from falling into the water, I guess. I loved it there and hope to return. I love this photo..nice lighting and I liked how you could see someone inside getting their bike.
@catheniale The lanes and bike racks in these kind of bicycle parks all have different numbers, symbols and/or colours. Just like in car parks. So all you need to do is remember that. Nevertheless you often see people wandering around looking for their bikes...

Wow!! That's amazing and I'm so envious. Riding a bicycle around here is like taking your own life in your hands. There's no lanes and the cars just aren't very generous about sharing the road!
@clarissajohal I know, we're very lucky. Over here it's very bicycle friendly with bike paths everywhere (often separated from the main road), traffic lights for bikes, traffic rules in favour of cyclists, bicycle parks everywhere et cetera.
