Bulb fields by halkia

Bulb fields

12.17 pm: Bulb fields in bloom. At this time of year hoards of tourists flood the area to see these colourful fields. This is what our countryside looks like - completely flat.

I took this shot out of a car driving at about 80 km/h, hence the blurred motion on the foreground. I could have edited it out but I'm still not feeling too great and can't really be bothered.
Amaaaazing photo-love the scenic view !

Ahhh - this is pretty.

Are these tullips already? Or other bulbs? Ik houd hier zo van, bij ons in de polder hebben ze ook van die velden, ik ga zeker kijken over een paar weken!

The motion adds to it - I can't believe the rest isn't blurred - great shot - I'll send my husband with a camera next time he flies over - he always says the fields are amazing from a plane.

Ziet er mooi uit met die lucht.

.Beautiful and the kind of landscape that could be only on the Netherlands

This is beautiful. I dont think it needed any editing. The eye is drawn to the bright yellow in the centre, and the converging lines. The flatness of the horizon adds to the beauty.

LOVE this Judith - great contrast in colours - the motion blur in the foreground adds to the pic

Stunning, this is so pretty. I want to come visit!

Dat stukje raam (of is het dat niet) vind ik juist wel leuk eronder!

De wat vage voorgrond maakt de foto juist spannend. Dit vind ik een erg mooie foto.

What a fantastic day to take this pic. And bulbs are not a good memory to me, as I bought it when I went to Amsterdan.. So much care and after 4 months they were all gone lo Nothing happened; We can only plant bananas here lol

I'd like to be a tourist too! Very pretty field. Hope you feel better soon!

Beautiful colors!

Wow, so neat! We have rolling country side in my neck of the woods so this is completely different to me!

I don't think it needed anything done to it. I love what my husband and I call "drive-bys". I think it's an actual style. We can't always pull over, right? :-) This photo is lovely...love the yellows and how you really get a sense of the flatness. :-)

Perfect shot with a nice combination of colors

I love the colors in this shot!

I will be one of those tourists coming to visit next month! nice shot!

So very flat, but living on a mountain sort of skews my perception! Lovely colours and sunlight
March 28th, 2011
@araminta Living on a mountain or not, I think from any perception our landscape could be classified as extremely flat :)

@babedol23 I hope you will enjoy your stay in the Netherlands! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for sunny weather (our weather is very unpredictable)

@orangecrush @peacerebel @comfortplenty Thank you for your lovely comments, much appreciated :)

@5unflow3r I really like drive-by shots and I agree it's an actual style :)

@jendee3 I love hills and mountains, probably because we don't have them. Our highest hill is a little over 322 meters high (or low).

@lislee75 Thanks, it is very pretty! I am not feeling well yet but I am sure this too will pass.

@deniseescovino Lol, I've never even planted any bulbs in my life! Maybe they were culture-shocked as they didn't expect to be moved all the way to Brazil ;)

@vrouwke Dank je! Ik heb erover getwijfeld om de voorgrond eraf te halen maar achteraf ben ik eigenlijk wel blij dat ik dat niet heb gedaan.

@haagjes Ja, er is inderdaad wat raam te zien :)

@wrighty Why don't you? You are about to embark on a journey aren't you, so why not start over here :)
March 28th, 2011
@sparkle @hamble Thank you both, in retrospect I am actually glad that I didn't edit this photo :)

@yoelao Thank you! And yes, I believe this kind of view can only be found in my country :)

@caatjeg @gijsje Het was zo'n mooie stralende dag!

@judithg I've never flown over the country during bulb season, so I can't tell from experience, but I agree they must be absolutely stunning seen from a plane!

@geertje Nee, het zijn geen tulpen maar narcissen (maar pin me er niet op vast, want ik heb ze alleen vanuit de auto gezien)

@thebluegnu @jodimuli @petra Thanks for you kind comments, and yes, those fields are very pretty :)

@flygirl I thought you had left for Europe already! Can't wait to see what kind of shots you come up with and how you will like my country (and Denmark).
March 28th, 2011
@halkia No not yet. We leave this Thursday for Denmark and then on teh 7th for Netherlands. Stay tuned for the pictures. :-D
March 28th, 2011
I like the blurred motion in the front. We grow tulips here also, but it's not quite the season yet, but I hope to get up and take pictures soon.
March 28th, 2011
@shantwin I would love to see some shots of your American tulips!
March 29th, 2011
I love these fields. The blur is not a problem. I worked for 5 years in the Netherlands but I've seen them only once. Wish I could go again soon
March 29th, 2011
Great shot as is. Really captured the view well along your drive.
