6.52 pm: The daycare center our daughters go to organised a Halloween walk-in-the-woods this evening and the parents were invited (or rather: requested) to attend too. The children had made lanterns and were very excited to go outside in the twilight to show them off. No trick-or-treating took place as we do that on November 11th in the Netherlands when we celebrate St. Martin's Day.
It amazes me every time how much racket a bunch of two- and three-year-olds can make. I have so much admiration for the young women who run the daycare center. I couldn't do their job without going absolutely crazy.
The photo is quite blurry - I obviously haven't yet mastered the art of photographing moving subjects at night. All my shots were either horribly overexposed (when using a flash) or very blurry.
It's very atmospheric! It takes me back to fireworks night at our nursery (a tricky combination, fireworks and toddlers!). It was cold so I put mittens on Rachel and she kept looking at me oddly (she was maybe 12 months old) - when I took the mittens off later she had a sausage in her hand - which she promptly ate!!
Love your story!!
