That Wanaka Tree by handymaurice

That Wanaka Tree

Books and magazines tell me that any amateur photographer visiting NZ must photograph the Wanaka Tree - so I did.....trouble is the classic photo is so well known (and appears on all local literature and goods that I tried a different approach and got this shot before I reached the beach and the mass of photographers from all nations. Arguably I could have moved to my left to remove the tree from the background but to do so would have exposed a host of photographers and sunbathers - it was about 2pm on a very hot and bright afternoon with little shadow being cast
Beautiful shot FAV

@777margo @helenw2 Thank you both - I would like to have separated the tree from the background but it was so busy even for a Monday and plenty of people swimming around the tree - it was "take what you could get" photo-wise - I did get some more classic shots too but must edit out a few bodies!

@julzmaioro HI Julia Thanks for the follow - I am a little behind trying to upload my holiday pics while driving around, having a good time and ensuring my work does not fall behind. I will catch up soon and look forward to viewing your shots too

@joansmor @jacqbb @ellida @joannakate @bkbinthecity @mrspedwards thank you all - I wanted to take the classic shot but part of me did not - this was a fortuitous angle that I walked along to avoid some tree felling works - and the view was directly in front of me

Great framing. Looks like you are having a wonderful time. I would love to go to NZ. One day. We have a friend who left to live in Wanaka but we lost touch so I hope he is still going strong. You made me think of him - thank you.

@mandygravil Maybe you can catch up with him again - we liked Wanaka more than we thought and stayed three days - also to help get over the Milford Track and driving the campervan
