Today three of us have been round 13 gardens in our area judging for the Great Eccleston Agriculture Show being held on the 16th & 17th July. I am chief steward in the Horticulture marquee & from next Wednesday morning will be in that marquee almost continuously until the Sunday evening. Me & a friend we, do it together, took the judge round today so that she could pick her choice of winner in the different classes of gardens. This was an entrant in the Working Farm category. The show is the largest two day show in Lancashire attracting 40,000 visitors & is all run by volunteers. It is a huge commitment & next week there will be plenty of opportunities for photos but not much chance of me doing much commenting ! We just pray for good weather !!
@jmj@phil_howcroft |Thank you both, we do quite enjoy it all but might possibly retire after this year..we have been doing it 11 years & it is hard work .you will see next week when I post photos ! This farm garden actually won although no one knows that yet so Shhhhhhh !!
How beautiful is Lancashire?! For one minute I thought you were judging - what pressure!! Please show us some giant veggies!! When I was drugged up in labour with Rachel I came to briefly, asked Nigel if I'd been talking about onions, he confirmed that I had and I went back dreaming about trays of Robinson's giants. I miss those great Lancashire shows!! I can smell the rose marquee at Southport even now...
Wonderful photo, Pat! Good luck with the Agricultural Show! I'll keep my fingers crossed for perfect weather. :)
I just read your post that this is the winning farm garden entry...I won't tell a soul. :)
@jmj@phil_howcroft@samdan Thanks & will show you some great produce next week !! @digitalrn@jquinn@jannaellen@whippeteer@kerristephens@sarah19
This is a lovely garden & you can only see a fraction of it here ,thanks so much for all your comments ! @peggysirk The results are not supposed to be known until the 16th but I don't think anyone here will tell !!! This category of working farm unfortunately gets smaller & smaller & there were only two entries this year !!
@lornavale@robinwarner Nearly always raining that's why we are so green..we do grumble but shouldn't because no rain brings big problems !! Thank you for your comments.
Good luck next week . I'm sure the Lancashire weather won't let you down !
