Judging Gardens Day by happypat

Judging Gardens Day

Today three of us have been round 13 gardens in our area judging for the Great Eccleston Agriculture Show being held on the 16th & 17th July. I am chief steward in the Horticulture marquee & from next Wednesday morning will be in that marquee almost continuously until the Sunday evening. Me & a friend we, do it together, took the judge round today so that she could pick her choice of winner in the different classes of gardens. This was an entrant in the Working Farm category. The show is the largest two day show in Lancashire attracting 40,000 visitors & is all run by volunteers. It is a huge commitment & next week there will be plenty of opportunities for photos but not much chance of me doing much commenting ! We just pray for good weather !!
Looks like you've had a busy day - and even more busy days to come! I'm glad the sun was shining for you today. This garden looks very well kept.

How beautiful is Lancashire?! For one minute I thought you were judging - what pressure!! Please show us some giant veggies!! When I was drugged up in labour with Rachel I came to briefly, asked Nigel if I'd been talking about onions, he confirmed that I had and I went back dreaming about trays of Robinson's giants. I miss those great Lancashire shows!! I can smell the rose marquee at Southport even now...

This category of working farm unfortunately gets smaller & smaller & there were only two entries this year !!
